We know some talented mother fuckers! Exquisite Carz is a game inspired by the surrealist “Exquisite Corps” exercise. One person (or in some cases three +) draw the front and back of a car respectively. The paper is folded in half so none of the participants see the others work until completion. As you can see the results are works of overwhelming beauty!  This particular round is from the January Car Krush Movie Night. CAR KRUSH 1st Annual BLOCK PARTY!!!

Hey there! I know we’ve fallen off the blog a bit lately, but that’s because we’ve been busy out here on the streets! After much planning, coordinating, and only a few all-nighters, Car Krush successfully hosted our first block party/art show/car show last month. It was fucking awesome!!! We blocked off an entire city block off of East Burnside here in Portland. The block was lined with 10 badass female-owned cars. Our dear mechanic friend Faye (read more about her here) taught car classes that drew enthusiastic crowds. The good buddies at Sizzle Pie hosted a co-curated art show, showcasing super talented female artists who each illustrated their fantasy pizza vehicles. And, on top of that we had a photobooth, a merch table, an airbrush booth, kids play area, a raffle, prizes, and beer!

Summer is in full swing, and that means it’s time for Car Krush classes! What’s it all about? It’s about a bunch of rad women hanging out in the parking lot on a hot summer night, poppin hoods and sippin beers.

A Little Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Faye, and I have been working as a mechanic for the last six years (though I should say, I have been a hobbyist and tinkerer for most of my life). I have worked for both independent shops and the local Toyota Dealership in Portland, Oregon. Toyotas (and older, water-cooled VWs) are definitely my specialty, but I can work on pretty much anything. I currently work for an Automotive Research Company in San Antonio, Texas, where I build, install, and maintain test engines for durability studies and product development purposes. I also teach evening automotive classes for women, and have a small side business doing mobile mechanicking for women in need.

We all have our thrift store gems - comfy sweaters, perfectly worn-in jeans, ridiculous tchotchkes. Car Krush has a new thrift score: an original creepy-ass trucker jacket.

This jacket conjures the image of the boorish trucker cruisin’ down a desert highway listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd with potato chip crumbs in his lap and titty mags under the seat. Okay, yes, I know those are all stereotypes, but this is the kind of jacket that confirms stereotypes.
