fun alternative: cruise ships. cruise ships exploit workers and can pollute as much as a million cars on a daily basis while dumping endless shit into the ocean and endangering all passengers on board because the on board air quality rivals some of the most polluted cities in the world while being a breeding ground for disease. cruise ships deserve to have negativity associated with them

also all crimes commited aboard a cruise ship is under the juristiction of whichever country they’re registered to once they’re a certain distance away from land so you have the added bonus of the crimes being very unlikely to be properly investigated (due to usually being physically so very far from the actual police whose juristiction they’re under)

Unless the FBI gets involved, these crimes are usually left ignored since the registered country rarely investigates, but cruise ships will also slander the name of people who have died or gone missing on their ship to save face. There are some pretty sad stories of people who have wound up missing or dead and they get painted as suicidal or reckless alcoholics by the cruise company, even when their families are pleading for justice.

Many cruise companies state in their contracts that you aren’t even entitled to a seaworthy vessel, wholesome food, comfortable lodgings or clean living quarters.

this is one of the truly brilliant things about this show. while most kids’ shows will have good vs evil conflict, atla has a war. a real war, between people, with all the moral greyness and points of view made clear. the fire nation isn’t evil: it’s a repressed country under the strict control of its ruler. we’re shown how history is altered and propaganda is taught as fact, so the people grow up moulded to hate all other nations.

and then we get lines like this, which make us stop and think wait, is what the other nations are doing really right? after all, Ba Sing Se was supposed to be a haven, but turned out to be repressive and full of lies.

in this case we know that Aang is justified, and we trust him to do what’s right because he has such high moral standards. then we get to the finale and all that is challenged again.

it’s just a brilliant show guise.

This is actually a nice story, the church is a 14th century building that was decayed and had no money to fix it, and a reputation of being haunted no less, a sculptor made these ghosts to fill the church and was inspired by its folklore, which has now brought in lots of tourists to see them and they’ve raised enough money from donations to fix the roof and secure the building
