Hello i'm back after 3000 years to rant about cynonari bc cyno's second story quest had me FEELING THINGS and i need an outlet. Not that they haven't been rotting my brain consistently for almost two years but this quest... it's just. So much

The way cyrus tells cyno to invite tighnari along for dinner out of nowhere like he's just part of the family, the camping trip with 4 people (not counting paimon since she's basically one of the traveler's limbs) and only 3 tents (i thought tighnari and collei might share a tent but tighnari was alone in his tent when he woke up after cyno had already left so.....), tighnari's one track mind about catching up with cyno the moment he realizes the situation, not even hesitating about following him to the desert which is the bane of his existence, and then glueing himself to his side, cyno saying he's more than just the general mahamatra or a vessel for a god and tighnari smiling so proudly and saying "exactly", the story of hermanubis confirming that he was a tighnarian which makes their lives historicaly intertwined and gives off big soulmate energy, and then cyno looking at tighnari with a little smile after hearing it and saying "i like this story", their little hideout at the akademiya where they used to go to to chat and watch the sunset..... and then there's this

Yep. If history gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling, you aren't learning history. You're being indoctrinated.

Dear lord.

As a historian : this is patently untrue.

Propaganda is when you are shown something to convince you into action.

Historical events that are not uncomfortable are not on their own propaganda. Someone who shows them to you, who has a specific motive for showing it to you, who then used that history to promote a particular reaction, may be using it as propaganda.

But they could also be showing you uncomfortable sides of history to use THAT as propaganda too. Example : choosing the one time a specific individual from a marginalized race or political group did something violent to a « chosen innocent » and using that as grounds for action. That can be very uncomfortable.

But this post seems to be saying: question all history you have ever been taught because you have been taught it poorly and you have been indoctrinated as a result.

This too is HIGHLY subjective. So much of history requires context and orientation and not everyone is out to manipulate you with the Hidden Past to conform you to action.

Verify and fact check, look into certain events if you arent more familiar with them, but if it doesn’t make you UNCOMFORTABLE that does not mean that it is wrong or it didnt happen that way, or that it is propaganda.

History isnt there to manipulate you. People do that. So question the people, and their motives, not history as a whole.

Yeah nah there is nothing uncomfortable about resisting your oppressor and regaining your freedom.

Signed, someone from a currently independent formerly occupied country. (Were there bad things during the Estonian reindependence? Probably! Am I still comfortable and happy that we did it and have it? Absolutely.) Begging people to have like two smidges of nuance.

i wish there wasn’t such a stigmatized view on platonically loving people.

I can’t call people nicknames and pet names like hun and honey without them immediately assuming i have romantic interest in them.

i can’t tell my friends i love them without adding on “platonically” or shortening the phrase “ily” “love you” “love u”

i love a lot of people. i love my sister, i love my boyfriend, and i love my best friend. All different versions of love.

let us love people openly and honestly without it being seen as “making a move” or being romantically interested.

please please please stop assuming that love is strictly romantic, i promise you life becomes so much brighter and bigger when you stop keeping love strictly romantic.

idk if I’ve posted about this before but by far the strangest things that’s happened to me in retail was the time someone’s total came out to my birth-year and I said “hey! that’s the year I was born!” and then the next customer’s total came out to like $12.57 and just bc I’m a weirdo I said “hey! that’s the year I was born!” and without missing a fucking beat this like, 70+ year old man said

“Ah! Another like me! We’re few and far between these days, aren’t we?”

And I was like oh man this guy’s sense of humor really aligns with mine! And I laughed and made some other joke about being immortal and thought that was the end of it,

but this man.

He stood by the register for five more minutes. Maybe more. Which let me tell you is an EXCRUTIATING amount of time for something like this to happen.

And he just kept upping the ante!! He starting talking about some REALLY specific details regarding day-to-day life in the 1300s to the point I started getting worried that I’d misled a genuinely immortal being to believe I am also immortal.

He eventually politely left when I got too busy with other customers to awkwardly respond.

Who the fuck was that guy.
