Hello, followers and non-followers alike! Colossalcon East is coming up in a few weeks, and I’ll be there doing photoshoots!

To set up a photoshoot, please contact me through my Ask Box or my Facebook Page with the time you would like to reserve the photoshoot for, the costume(s) planned, the amount of people in the group (if applicable), and at least one method of contacting you outside of Tumblr (Skype, FB, e-mail, cell phone, etc.)

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a minor/have minors in your group, message me and let me know so that I can send you the proper model release forms. Forms for minors require a parent or guardian’s signature. Please bring them with you to the photoshoot. Photoshoots are priced at $45 for groups of 1-3 people, and $75 for groups of 4-8. For groups larger than 8 people, add an additional $5 per extra person.

I will be closing slots for photoshoots after 8 slots are filled.

With each photoshoot, you are guaranteed one full hour of time for the shoot be it inside or outside, and a minimum of 4-6 finished and edited hi-res photos. I’ll be posting the finished photoshoots both on Tumblr and Facebook in low resolution, but I’ll be sending the hi-res files directly to you through Dropbox (or, if requested, on a memory stick/CD through the mail.)

A NOTICE TO ANYONE SHOOTING THE ECLIPSE ON MONDAY

If you don't have the correct solar filters, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SHOOT THE ECLIPSE WITH A DIGITAL CAMERA. You will destroy your sensor. The amount of light and radiation being focused on it during the eclipse will at the least wreck it electronically, and if you're using a telephoto lens, it will actively burn a hole in your camera.

These guys did a test using an old Canon Rebel XT and a 400mm lens, and it burned the camera after a 6 second exposure. (For those of you asking why anyone would ever take that long of an exposure for the sun, consider two things: one is that many people have neutral density filters that block light and require a long exposure time, and that Live View on digital cameras requires the sensor to be exposed.)

If you're going to view the eclipse and you don't have the right filters, save yourself the hassle and don't bother trying to take any photographs of it. Camera companies have already gone on record saying that they WILL NOT cover or repair any damage from the eclipse. You fry, you buy. The filters you will need are specifically labled as Solar Filters, and if you haven’t already purchased them, then unfortunately you’re pretty much out of luck. They’re sold out and backordered everywhere, and chances are EXTRAORDINARILY slim that you’ll be able to find anything before tomorrow.  The only other acceptable option is Welding Glass; specifically, Welding Glass #14. That has the density and protection to act as a solar filter, but again, finding any before tomorrow is likely to be difficult at best.  Stay safe out there!

Additionally, a TBT to what is still one of my favorite Polaroid shots I’ve ever taken.  Shot on July 4th 2012 in Philadelphia, on Fuji FP-100C pack film and a Polaroid 100 Land Camera. 

Stopped by the lake on the way home to get a few shots of these neat clouds. Really happy that I’ve got my RX100 now.

EDIT: On a second look I really didn’t like the compression and color of the first so I re-exported it on my laptop. Also, found another cool closeup of the clouds.

It’s been a really long time since I’ve updated anything on this blog - I’ve been extremely busy since the summer doing freelance editing on top of my regular job and haven’t gotten a ton of chances to go out shooting or spend time on my own stuff.  Back in October, I was lucky enough to snag some time off and cheap tickets out west to visit friends in Oregon again! I didn’t take that many pictures this time around since it was mostly a chance to see friends, but I’m pretty happy with the ones I was able to get! We went to Silver Falls State Park and saw the waterfalls, and also went down to the shore at Newport for a day! It was a trip that was very much needed, but unfortunately I was chucked right back into the grind when I got back and haven’t had the time to properly go through the pictures I DID take until now.

Status update for folks that I did shoots with at both the KonKon shoot, and Colossalcon!  I apologize for being so slow on getting the photos back to everyone; I HAVE been working on them, but between last weekend (helping my parents with a yard sale, going to AnimeNEXT on Saturday), and this weekend (wound up doing a rush wedding editing job), I’ve been woefully behind on getting around to finishing them up.  I’ve just about finished up the KonKon photos, and I’ve got some good Colossalcon previews I hope to put up either later tonight or sometime tomorrow, but in any case, I’m hoping to have them out in the next week or so!

For fellow photographers - this is a huge and really awesome move. 

The Nik Collection has some seriously powerful and versatile tools for photo editing, and the fact that it’s now all free is amazing. If you’ve got Lightroom or Photoshop and want to get more oomph from your pictures, I HIGHLY suggest downloading these right now. I’ve used the Silver Efex Pro since college and it really is incredible to see just how much it enhances b&w photos.
