Sit this one out.
Richard wished that the thought of abandoning them to their fate had not silently crossed his mind. He dismissed that notion as quickly as it had come, buried back down with the part of him that still saw them as traitors, that still desperately wanted to hate them if only to hide from his own pain. At one time he might have done such a thing and felt it deserved. That wasn’t the kind of person- the kind of ruler- he would become.
Enough prosperity for everyone… that included them as well.

“An interesting suggestion,” Richard mulled over them each in turn. There was certainly merit to the idea of a disguise… yet he wondered how well that could truly work with the presence of so many knights in the area. Ah, but perhaps therein lay the opportunity.
“Given how much trouble these monsters have caused, I would not leave the task to my men alone, but perhaps… Given what these outcasts likely think of me, I imagine they would not think twice at the idea that I sitting back at the castle while having others take care of the fighting.” He looks up at Yuri with an almost mischievous light in his eye.
“What do you say? Shall we disguise ourselves among the knights? Hide the tree in the forest as it were?”

So the people in Orlen village didn’t think too highly of his majesty. Noted. It wasn’t as if Yuri couldn’t relate to the disapproval.  “Oh joy,” Yuri’s grip tightened on his hip, but his expression remained the same. Of course, the suggestion came from himself, but he had to wonder why the title of ‘knight,’ in some form or other, somehow always managed to work its way back into his life. It was almost like... destiny, and his friends knew how Yuri felt about that destiny crap.

“Alright then,” he chuckled. “Guess it’s time to brush up on our acting skills. How are you in that regard, your majesty? Do we need to run lines or--?”

Guys, will you do me a solid?

Truth is, I’ve been busy lately because I’m trying to make a game. My partner and I have several debates on the different elements that our game should have.

Filling out this survey will definitely help settle some of our disputes.

Will you guys help me out by answering this?

Thanks so much if you decide to do it!

“Really, Yuri?” She blinked a few more times before rubbing her eyes. Honestly, she didn’t remember why she decided to ask him to engage in such a contest. Maybe it was so he could stay around longer. “…You don’t have to leave soon, do you?”

“Nah, I actually have some free time right now.” Brave Vesperia being busy was actually a good thing, but he felt a bit guilty not being able to visit Estelle so often. “Did you have something you wanted to do, Estelle?”

Staaare. She was looking at him intensively and hoped that she could do this. Estelle continued staring at him but blinked when it was too much. She let out a sigh of defeat as she told him, “I wonder how you can do that, Yuri.”

“Nah, you almost got me,” said Yuri nonchalantly. When Estelle finally blinked, he did so, as well. “A second longer and I would’ve caved.”

No kidding. His eyes were a bit watery now.

The Vesperia crew looking after a kid is something that I never knew I wanted. Which reminds me, I wonder what Yuri and Estelle’s kid would look like? If only I could draw. :/

Honestly, I have like 7 fanfic ideas for this game now. It just keeps on giving.

in case you were still wondering what a Yustelle kid would look like.

Yuri lowell’s defining factor as a protagonist is goddamn common sense and that’s funnier to me than I can possibly say. Every other character in vesperia is either knee-deep in some big, world-changing thing, have some deep backstory, or they’re some kind of genius. And then there’s yuri. He knows right from wrong, knows mass murder and oppression are bad, can make decisions for himself, can read, knows when to walk away vs when to fight, knows that ketchup isn’t a smoothie, and can confidently make it to and from the grocery store within a reasonable time frame. And if that doesn’t sound like its impressive, please keep in mind that this level of common sense sets him apart because the rest of his demon kids don’t have even that sometimes
