I’ve gotta be honest with you guys…

it is really hard to find the motivation to write when I have watched writers on this website BEG readers to reblog for months. and the ratio of likes to reblogs continues to drop month to month. you all are not listening.

our work cannot be appreciated by likes alone. the only person liking something benefits is you.

I’m not saying likes aren’t appreciated…they are. but it really sucks to watch a fic that you’re proud of get a few, a dozen, a hundred, a thousand notes that are mostly likes alone.

it leaves you to wonder how much feedback you’d be getting if even half of the amount of people that were liking the fic were also reblogging it.

this is not how this website functions. this is not how this website used to function. as someone who has been around Tumblr a decade, I promise you that the ratios were never this bad.

fuck your “blog aesthetic.” fuck any excuse in the book. fan artists and writers are, for the most part, doing this for free so you can continue to enjoy your favorite fandoms/blorbos.

the absolute least you can do to show your appreciation for that is to:

SHARE. THEIR. WORK.

it costs you NOTHING to hit the reblog button. nothing.

Tumblr is not Twitter or TikTok. you have to support your creators of content you enjoy by reblogging them.

otherwise, writers are just going to continue to leave.
