Since I have a degree in media communication, I want to make it completely clear that what I am criticizing is the media narrative being pushed by social media platforms in favor of making a profitable business. Media giants are peddling Islamophobia by way of their censorship and moderation in response to this crisis.
Tags like "gaza" and "free gaza" are trending because they are more palatable for the western audience. We loooooove freedom
Tags like "palestine" "🇵🇸" and "support palestine" are associated with Islam and Muslims, which is why there is an overwhelming notion that palestine=terrorist. Regardless of who Palestinians people really are in the scenario.
Anti-semitism is ALWAYS deserving of condemnation. Why can't Islamophobia be as well? I am asking social media users to consider how they consume and access their content critically
