Ahh!! Need to go!

Hi everyone,

I don’t usually post a lot on here anymore, but I just had to share this. So today, I saw Peter Richardson, Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders at a screening and Q+A for The Strike and GLC for the 41st anniversary of The Comic Strip. I cannot believe I was in the same room as three of my heroes at the same time! And to add to that, Peter Richardson was sat just two spaces in front of me, so I was watching him on the big screen, whilst the man himself was just a metre away from me😱 Eddie Izzard was also there too, making a guest appearance and asking Peter about the films.

It also warmed my heart so much to hear so much laughter and cheers whenever Rik was on screen.

These people have meant so much to me and have done since I was a teen. To be in the same room as them and to be surrounded by people laughing at something I love so much, meant so much to me. As I would often watch The Comic Strip by myself, so to have people to share these films with was amazing 😊

I really regret now that I didn’t go and speak to Peter, who was waiting outside afterwards, and tell him how much his films mean to me, but my social anxiety kicked in, and anyone who experiences that will understand why I didn’t say hi 🙄

Anyway, appreciation post over, go back to your daily business 😊

Ahhhh so awesome you got to see all three of them at once, and so close up too! It's a really nice feeling to be in a room with people who all love the thing you love. ❤️ Totally get you with the social anxiety, that stopped me from going over to talk to Ade once, but ultimately the memory of getting to see them at all is what matters!

@neil-neil-orange-peel yes it really was a nice feeling, and thanks for saying that, it’s made me feel a bit better for not going to say hi 😊 I’m just glad it happened at all

Three ships: This is difficult! I can't really rank my ships, but I'll try to list three here that aren't all just Rik Character/Ade Character. So: 1) Rivyan. Shocker! When I said I can't really rank my ships that was a partial lie because Rivyan is definitely my #1. I had to list this, contractually. 2) Rimster. Aka Dave Lister/Arnold Rimmer of Red Dwarf. I've heard some dwarfers refer to Lister/Rimmer as Rimster, though I'm not sure how well used it is as a shipname. Moonlight might also be another alternative (if you know, you know). Scumbags, if you ship Rivyan, you'll probably ship this too. Watch Red Dwarf! 3) Colin/Spider. Of Bad News infamey. I remember a talk about what their shipname should be but honestly can't remember the outcome. 😂 Either way, since I played a part in getting others to ship this, I had to list it.

First ever ship: I'm not completely sure about this but I think it may have been Dramione. I'm not going to judge my 11 year old self. 😅

Last song: I feel like I don't listen to music as much as most people do, oops... I don't remember.

Last film: Spirited. I went to see it with my mum the other day and I did enjoy it, I have to admit. As anyone who knows me will know, I love A Christmas Carol.

Currently reading: Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. I'm enjoying it so far, although I do already know the plot. I was named after this book so I thought it was about time I actually read it. 😂
