I keep telling people this, but SO much of American culture and particularly the ‘Protestant work ethic’ is derived from Calvin’s view that everything in life is predestined by God - that winners and losers are already chosen.
Those Puritan pilgrims who came here seeking ‘religious liberty?’ Hardcore Calvinists who were so obnoxious they were kicked out of their home countries.
And they use this belief to excuse the worst behaviors in American history: Racism, colonialism, genocide, segregation, patriarchy, prejudice against minorities, slavery, economic disparity, low wages, no public healthcare, systems that punish the poor and disabled while rewarding the already wealthy; attempts to impose theocracy and infiltrate democratic institutions to wreck them from within; the constant stream of made-up moral panics; the parochialism and fear of outsiders.
The belief, common among many conservatives, that humans are inherently evil, is why they distrust anything from government that advances the common good and instead praise church-based charity.
I could go on, but just read this.
i was literally about to say this. this shit isn’t new by any means
Of course that's their perspective they're eugenicists.
Why wasn't this woman given more work to do on the show???

Thank you @inexpressiblybeautiful! 😊
PS I love your tags! Haha
Does Lara Pulver knows that you are writing fics about adlock? (I hope so, because they are fantastic :))
Haha, I have no idea! On one hand it would be funny to know if she's ever looked into fanfic about her Irene Adler character, but on the other hand (and in a MAJOR way) it would be absolutely mortifying if it were anything of mine, lol.
Happy Women’s Day with THE WOMAN, Lara Pulver's performance as Irene Adler was enchanting. 🌼💘

And when he talks about Irene Adler, or refers to her photograph, he always uses the honorable appellation The Woman.”

Helloooo just checking how are you and the baby
Hi! So far, so good :) I’m actually currently at my 40-week check-up waiting for my doctor to come in, but so far this baby is showing no signs of wanting to make his debut 😄
Fortunately I’m feeling really good, and as long as he comes in the next two weeks I can avoid being induced 🤞🏻!
hi!! How are you? I hope you’re doing okay!! Congratulations with the baby!!❤️❤️❤️
Hello! I’m so great, and thank you!!! 💙💙💙
how did you get into adlock fandom?
The short answer is that I watched A Scandal in Belgravia when it came out, and was a major Adlock shipper by the time the credits rolled, and immediately started looking for fan content :)
The longer answer is that I needed to “know” how Sherlock had orchestrated the rescue and looked for fic about it, but since the episode had just aired there wasn’t really anything yet, so I decided to take it upon myself 😅 What I’d intended as a chapter or two to put my own questions to rest turned into a whole fic.
There was already an extensive and active Sherlock fandom at the time since the first season had already come out, but it was almost all Johnlock at the time, with a little Sherlolly mixed in. There was no Adlock fandom at the time, but slowly but surely an incredible one developed (later christened The Adlock Yacht!), and it was really exciting to get to connect with other Adlockers through Tumblr and see everyone’s amazing art, fic, meta, videos, playlists, edits, etc come out in real time ☺️
This info needs to be out there, it turned the tide against cryptocurrency in the public eye it might fit so too
i highly recommend for women and girls to be intellectually curious and difficult to shame

anyway the actual point of fandom is to inspire each other. reading each other's fics and admiring each other's art and saying wow i love this and i feel something and i want to invoke this in other people, i want to write a sentence that feels like a meteor shower, i want to paint a kiss with such tenderness it makes you ache, i want to create something that someone else somewhere will see it and think oh, i need to do that too, right now. i am embracing being a corny cunt on main to say inspiring each other is one of the things humanity is best at and one of the things fandom is built for and i think that's beautiful
People... watch out for these things!
The saying applies with more than usual force here: if you're not paying for it, you're not the customer: you're the product being sold. (And maybe you're the product being sold even if you are paying for it.)
DO NOT MAKE YOUR PERSONAL PHYSICAL DATA AVAILABLE TO PEOPLE WHO COULD THEN SELL IT TO THOSE INVESTED IN USING IT TO SURVEIL YOU AND POTENTIALLY CHARGE YOU WITH CRIMES.
