I will be at Burgess Hill Summer Festival next Monday June 5th 7.30pm at The Atrium. Contact helppoint@burgesshill.gov.uk for more info and tickets.

"Taxidermy is a skilled craft that requires a combination of sculptural knowledge and a love of natural history. Hugely popular during the Victorian era, Taxidermy is experiencing a major revival today. Ethical taxidermist Jazmine Miles-Long only works with animals that have died from natural causes or road casualties. Her love of natural history has led her to make work that respects the animal and highlights its beauty. Come and hear Jazmine talk about her craft and see some examples of her work."

Want to learn taxidermy? There are still a couple of places left for the bird taxidermy workshop at Brighton Museum - taught by myself and the Curator of the Booth Museum. We will be working on Herring Gulls and Pheasants all of which have died naturally or as traffic accidents. It is a two day course, day one starts tomorrow at 9.30am and day two is next Saturday 11th July. We will be making balsa wood forms and you get to take your finished mount home with you. For more information visit the Museum website or feel free to contact me - http://brightonmuseums.org.uk/brighton/whats-on-2/#ethical-taxidermy-workshop
