Love All

@amour-de-tous / amour-de-tous.tumblr.com

Call me Asa (she/her). On hiatus professional musician, hobbyist writer, and sometimes artist. Love to cook and bake. You'll find lots and lots of Captain America and Marvel, some Star Wars, Les Mis, Disability justice and humour, and various asundry. I get really excited about stuff and am generally overly enthusiastic about the things I love. I track amour de tous and amourdetous, but not amour-de-tous because tumblr is a bum about hyphens. such a huge relief that hillary’s so ahead in the polls and trump has such a small chance of winning, right? WRONG. DO NOT GET APATHETIC OR COMFORTABLE. DO NOT DECIDE YOU DON’T NEED TO VOTE BECAUSE YOU’RE SURE HILLARY WILL WIN. the only way trump can win now is if so many people expected to vote for hillary don’t show up to the polls. because you BETTER believe ALL of his supporters will be at the polls.

brexit passed in the UK because young people grew apathetic because they were sure it wasn’t going to pass. and it did, because old racists and xenophobes showed up in DROVES to vote.

tl;dr: VOTE, PEOPLE. VOTE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. IT MIGHT.

General approximation of how my Russian ear heard this scene the first time (and it was perfect):

  • DESIRE!1!!1!!!
  • zh-rusty!
  • twzwelve!
  • intelligence seRRRRvice
  • f’yornace
  • nyain
  • kind-quality (also sounds like “benign” with odd ukrainian accent)
  • RTVUVRN TO MADALAND
  • wahn
  • thunderstorm wagon
  • EITHER “soldier” with honey-cute uwu pronunciation (he softens the “L” like a german would, but in russian softened consonants are used for baby-talk) OR, if broken in two words, “want some salt?”
  • “I’m ready to go wild”

It's an incorrect spelling so obviously you should pronounce it incorrectly. Ge-orj.

...I guess that's just George? But it's different in my head.

Not to ruin your day or anything, but it is absolutely not an incorrect spelling: Georg (given name)

For U.S. folks, a guide to state supreme court races in your state this year: https://boltsmag.org/your-state-by-state-guide-to-the-2024-supreme-court-elections/

These downballot races can have a huge impact on life in your state. If you have judges on the ballot this year, please read up on the race!

It's hard to feel like an informed voter in judicial elections - candidates don't make the news. Here's one resource I like:

Apparently people who don't have executive dysfunction think that actually working on something is the hardest part of doing something. And that's why they get mad that you call the rest of the project "easy" after you've finally worked through doing the plan and know what to do when you're working.

So when you're through with the epiphany of how to make it physically possible to make the thing you're making, and you're sharing the plan with excitement, because the hard part is over, and now you only have to get your hands moving and do it, they get mad at you like

"it's not that easy! It's a lot of hard work! >:C"

they mean it, because

to them, working is the hardest part.

They don't have to fight their brains to get started. They don't have to fight their way through making the choices, making the plan, making yourself make the thing. People who don't suffer from executive dysfunction think that the hardest part is actually doing the thing.

when you have executive dysfunction, it’s like... you’ve just clawed your way up a long steep embankment of loose gravel, and you flop exhausted into the construction site, and you’re like “oh thank fuck, time to lay some bricks, i absolutely could do this all day” and the guy who drove to the site goes “what’s wrong with you man bricklaying is hard graft!”

not as hard as crawling up the gravel mountain bro

there’s also good hard and bad hard. doing the thing might be hard, but at least you’re doing it; it’s good hard. just getting to the thing in the first place is hard and it’s fucking miserable. executive dysfunction puts so many bad hard things in your way before you can get to even the good hard things.

A professor gave us an extra credit option: take a picture of yourself outside, doing something that you would not usually do. We were told not to take it too seriously. Here is my entry:

I maintain that sticking my head in the mailbox is not something I do on a regular basis.

Love that some of you are reblogging this. You looked at a picture of a guy with his head in a mailbox and went "yeah"

Can't wait to see if everyone did something like this or if they had a normal reaction. I will keep you posted.

[ID: a photo of a pale person wearing a black t-shirt and jeans with his head in a mailbox /END ID]

Hello to everyone asking for an update!

The professor has said that he will put all submitted pictures into a powerpoint to be shown in class tomorrow (Tuesday, March 9th). I am very much looking forward to seeing the reaction from him and from the rest of the class. I promise to keep you informed.

Update: the professor saved my picture for last. I was told that I had "truly embodied the spirit of the assignment" and that I had gone "above and beyond."

Also, to everyone who is worrying about whether or not I got my head out, I was gifted with a very small head, and while I got out just fine I would NOT recommend this if you have a large head or even a normal sized head.

Hey you guys should make this into a meme.

Hows this?
