One of Thranduil’s favorite passed times is lounging back and reading a book while Thorin forges something in the background:

(Thorinduil + Thingoropher AU) The Heart of the Mermaid/Miner

((Thorinduil Mermaid/Miner AU partly inspired by @rosalind-wt-blog’s art here; also for MerMay; ALSOalso: sorry this is so short, it’s really just a gloss ok: no it’s not: it was MEANT to be one but then my idiot brain decided “NO! It needs DETAILS!!! I need to explain THIS and explain THAT!!! Now, once more, from the top, WITH FEELING!!!” x.x, and alsox3 for the Thingol/Oropher dump: while trying to decide/figure out how Duil could be trying to get back his heart while heartless [which launched its OWN debate of how fitting that would be from a he’s so heartless viewpoint], I unintentionally created a really cool background history for this AU that I just HAD to use; and, conveniently, it made it both possible and logical to fit my other OTP in here so… yea; enjoy?))

Long ago, during the course of the First Age, The Great Elven King Elu Thingol requested the aid of the Dwarf Lords of Old.

“Fashion for me a necklace befitting this gem,” he’d ordered, loud and grand, displaying for all present (the dwarrow lords in question, members of his court, his wife–giver of said gem–and child, lords and ladies of distant elvish lands) one large jewel glowing an enchanting golden hue that mesmerized them all.

But none more so than the dwarrows employed to frame it.

They coveted this gem, worshiped it as True Gold, and endeavored to have it–and have it they did: on the day they deemed to present the necklace made, they snatched the golden gem from the great elven king and brought his wrath down upon themselves and all their kin; and, thus, the land of Erebor was taken, the dwarrows within conquered and claimed, and Elu Thingol crowned anew: both Elfking and Dwarfking.

Thranduil tries a different kind of diplomacy; but kindness too late isn’t good enough for Thorin… ((AKA: I just wanted Thranduil dewebbing Thorin–and somehow it became angst v.v)) ((Also, yes, the title is a [not-so]subtle nod to my Fili/OMC fic Brush Brush xD;;;))

(Thorinduil + Towolain) Stains [NSFWish]

((Finally finished getting all [or at least vast majority of my Thorinduil Tolkien] stuff onto Pillowfort [it’s not too bad; they have some pros that Tumblr doesn’t have but it’s biggest con is being quiet] so I can finally start posting new stuff again! =D I didn’t want to make it impossible to catch up so I took a break these passed few weeks and Jive did I end up with quite the stockpile of Thorinduil works for you All–this one technically included; altho: this piece has Thorinduil in it, for sure, but it’s also more a fic for worldbuilding/fleshing out my version of Greenwood/Mirkwood/Lasgalen… Basically, I have a headcanon where Thranduil’s wardrobe is basically all made by one she-elf, the epic weaver named Towolain, and has been ever since he arrived with Oropher in Age II; she’s something of a [grand]motherly figure to him [and even was to his father] so she spoils him and coddles him but also isn’t afraid to tease and poke fun at him cuz she knows he’ll let her~))

What made you start shipping Thorinduil?

Avatar

O hey! Thanks for the ask! ^^

Um, basically, when I first watched The Hobbit like 10 years ago? x'''D I really liked Thranduil but literally fell asleep during the other parts of the movie (yea I literally woke up just for Duil x'D) so shipping wasn't a thing for me back then which is why I'm so late to things

But that's not the question!

(Going under a cut cuz this got stupid long xD;;;)

Haunted Halls AU

Fili and Kili are young/teen paranormal seekers hoping to catch any kind of proof they can that ghosts exist/are real/can be seen because they miss their dad.

If they can just find proof that leads them to a WAY… they can talk to him again.

They hear rumors about an old mansion with some posh rich guy’s ghost haunting it and decide to check it out with their friends Ori and Gimli.

But the four end up separated, lost, and biting off more than they can chew.

((A.K.A.: The modern AU in which Thranduil and his people are mansion haunting ghosts that Thorin and co. and Gimli and Dis have to deal with… or are they just relics from a lost age?))

Legit, the main inspiration for this was the thought/image of Thranduil and his kin refusing to sail and building out their Halls so it looks like an abandoned castle that most mortals would stay away from but also not question the existence of (because it doesn’t LOOK like a place elves, or whatever they’re known as now, would choose to live–just ordinary, if very rich, humans who’re long gone now); so, if they DO turn up, it makes perfect sense for the elves living there to pop out in their palest and most flowy of garbs while mimicking the gestures and sounds they’ve heard humans (and even dwarrows) associate with the long departed so they go away quickly and never return–until, of course, stubborn Durins show up and refuse to stay gone so Thranduil, bravely defending his beloved people, singles out their leader (whom, at this point, is a frustrated reincarnated!Thorin trying to prove to his reborn!nephews and their friends that nothing’s there) and just going right up to him (from behind of course: STEALTH!) and going: BOO!
