So in preparation for Dragon Age Summer I took another look at the DA4 reddit leaks from last year and.. I think I discovered something (that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet?), and since it's a potential spoiler, I'll put it under a cut....

Sometimes you come across some really funny stuff when using the flycam and then you put dramatic chorus and some effects on it and then The Dread Wolf Rises™ before plopping out of existence and I can’t stop laughing

(I didn’t make any cuts, the camera just automatically jumped closer, which makes this even funnier to me sjhdhfjfkak)

on Reset Era, shinobi602 commented that there is still a huge, hard-working team at BioWare making DA:D, many of whom ("dozens and dozens") have been at the studio since the time of Dragon Age: Origins (for 10, 15, 20 years), and who are pouring their all into the game and trying to make a great game. [source, two]

some further comments from shinobi602. they said that BioWare is made up of hundreds of people, listing several devs (including senior devs, leads, and directors) who have been there for a long time (e.g. since DA:O, KOTOR, ME2) and "are still there and trying to make a good game". they said that the devs they listed is only part of that list. they added "And that's not even taking into accout that there are tons of people hired from other awesome studios like Sucker Punch, Respawn, 343, etc working there. There's a lot of talent on the team." [source]

they also said "I've talked to multiple people on the team, ranging from positive to hopeful to 'things aren't as bad as it's made out to be' to more negative. Especially now with Connie Booth leading, there's positive momentum hopefully moving forward." [source]

A user commented "We should just be grateful to be getting AAA singleplayer RPGs at all these days lol". A second user commented "This is honestly so true. BioWare existing and making the games that they do are such a highlight to me imo. Games like this are so incredibly difficult to make it's a miracle they come out at all." shinobi said, "Spot on actually. A person I talked to on the team not long ago highlighted that specifically. The fact that a studio like BioWare can still make a big budget strictly single player RPG under the umbrella of EA is significant". [source]

a user asked them "Do you think Mass Effect will be made regardless of how Dreadwolf does, or will Dreadwolf impact whether ME goes forward?". shinobi replied "I think there will undoubtedly be an effect if Dreadwolf doesn't meet sales expectations. Just the nature of the business sadly. Whether it completely stops ME, I'm not sure." [source]

Purple is associated with pride

Dragon age Dreadwolf has purple as a prominent color

Solas is the dreadwolf

Solas means pride

Yeah THIS

But ALSO *puts on tinfoil hat*

Something something DA4's colour scheme is purple because lyrium carries a Song, which I believe was sundered with the origin of the Blight, resulting in tainted RED and non-tainted BLUE lyrium and according to Mr Dread Wolf himself, lyrium is "the source of all magic, save that which mages bring themselves" and magic in DA is inherently musical in nature and once the Veil is gone, everything will "sing the same" again (*cough* because there's part of a sleeping/corrupted/dead Titan trapped in the Fade, too?? *cough*). :)

"He hurts. An old pain from before when everything sang the same."

As Solas puts it in his description of magic in ancient times:

"Echoes would linger for centuries, harmonizing with new magic in an unending symphony".

Symphony: "harmonious arrangement (as of sound or colour)"

Red + Blue = Purple

I don't think Solas' Fade stories and all of his musings about the ancient past being written in the cadence of Hallelujah is solely because Patrick Weekes is a huge musical buff or because it makes Solas sound like a poet from a different age. 😂 There's an underlying musical connotation to everything regarding the ancient past that is very deliberate.

The Chantry says, "when the Chant of Light is sung from all the corners of the world, the Maker will return and transform the world into a paradise".

No, I don't think that Solas is the Maker (though apparently, he IS a "song and dance man" lmao) or that there even IS a Maker tbh, but the Chant was ultimately inspired by certain elements of "real" historical events/people of Thedas and, like the Canticle of Exaltations, could even reference things yet to come.

So regardless of the religious interpretation,

- tearing down the Veil is associated with light - there's a chant/song that will be "sung" in harmony across all of Thedas, but it's actually the lyrium's/Titan's song - "gods" like the Evanuris are about to return and try to "transform the world" into whatever their vision of a "paradise" is (looking at that "All the world will soon share the peace and comfort of my reign" person at the end of the Thedas Calls teaser 👀) - and isn't it interesting that we already have records of a certain someone who also promised a "paradise" to the people after the conquering of the Titans, someone who might have inspired the stories of Andraste and the Maker when she became her host and maybe is using Solas now to get her final vengeance??? 😀 Which would make the whole Titan/lyrium song story come full circle when she was the first to kill them??? 👀👀👀

Well.. *that* or BioWare just likes purple I guess. 😂

Just found out the German translation for “The Maker” is “Der Erbauer” and my day is ruined. Ugly. Unwieldy. Unintuitive. Makes me think of somebody who built a house not the one who supposedly crafted the whole world. Also “Der Schöpfer” was RIGHT THERE ready made with religious connotations and so much nicer to say. I will have words with whoever was in charge of the translation. Who allowed this to happen and why?

Well, to be fair, they *did* use "Schöpfer" for the Creators of the elven pantheon, which would be the most accurat translation and I guess they just had to make a distinction somehow. 😂 I actually quite like how they used "Erbauer" in the sense of an architect of the world, since I feel like "Schöpfer" is a much more generic term used in a ton of fantasy settings, so I think it's something a little more unique to the Dragon Age lore. 😁 But, you know, I may be biased, since I first started playing DA in German and I'm just so used to the translation now. 😂
