                            i’ve officially MOVED.

feel free to follow over there, should you still want this cowboy on your dash. but just know, i’ve hit my daily follow limit already so i may not follow back immediately. it’ll take a little bit of time to get everyone over there, but we’re vibin’.
i’ll be queuing this post a few times and moving things / reposting things over the next………3 years, because there’s a lot of shit —
and in the interim, i’ll be deciding if i wanna drag over the inbox / drafts.
anyway, see y’all on the other side.

“Well, of course I think it is, but, like, that real smile––where the corners of your eyes crinkle up? THAT one,” she states rather emphatically before a pause. A beat. Another shot. She considers then continues. “That other smile where I can almos’ hear th’gears’re turning in your head is–– fine, I guess, but it’s Diff’rent… If you just wanna hear me say stupid obvious shit, though, I think you’re pretty, too. Just. In general.”
Then her brow furrows in a look of thought––as though something has not only baffled but perhaps even miffed her a bit about his answer as it’s been processing in her head––and she leans in towards him a little, squinting at him.
“But… that’s not all you are either, is it, Jesse? –– Pretty, I mean, so…”
She looks down for a moment, perhaps trying to sort her words, and then those blue eyes look to him again, so full of sincerity and with such a singular sort of focus, almost as though the rest of the room didn’t exist, the world outside didn’t matter. Just him. Just this conversation of theirs.
“… why don’t they norm’ly ask…?”
image
“You’re worth askin’ about… worth knowing…”
Is it his choosing or theirs? She isn’t entirely sure, but she feels like that’s an important thing to ask, an important thing for her to state, outright. She’s been dancing around it with all the precision she would expect of herself in an actual dance routine––and maybe it’s the alcohol that’s assisted her in taking the leap––but she’s kind of tired of biting her tongue.

It’s almost like she speaks it into existence — that REAL smile she’s referring to.

It’s funny, how quickly AJ has picked up on the little things like that. She reads people well — has to, if she’s able to get a decent read on someone like JESSE, who’s job it is to not be readable...

          — also makes a lot more sense now, actually knowing what she does for a LIVING, outside of working the bar. A lot of things are starting to make more sense after their little tango with Talon a few months or so ago. Why she seemed to take a liking to him from the start, how she’d probably be able to catch him in his LIE right now, should she have been in the right, uninhibited headspace.

In reality, it’s not that they don’t ask — he typically just doesn’t give them the opportunity to. He PREFERRED to keep his distance. It was just safer that way, for them, of course. Jesse doesn’t typically tend to attract wanted attention when around — there’s a list of people that’d take him DEAD or alive, and it ain’t exactly brief. He can’t afford anymore casualties on his behalf, his conscience already heavy with enough GUILT and loss to last three life times. So it brings up a question in his own mind...

          — what the hell was he doing HERE...?

It’s that question that snaps him back to reality, that grin on his face settling into an almost grimace before he takes a rather deep swig of the cold drink still in his hand — an attempt to clear the bottle before he’s standing to grab at the much larger bottle still in her hand.

“ — reckon that’s ‘nough of this...” he hums, referencing her pick of poison for the night as he takes it into his own grasp.

He swings around the counter, placing the bottle to the back wall before attempting to shuffle her towards the front door. “How ‘bout we get you HOME? Gettin’ late, pretty sure you’ve got work t’morrow an’ I’ve got a PLANE t’catch, so...”

“What confuses me,” AJ begins, maybe a bit too loudly but, hey, the bar has been empty since before she ever let them in and she’s a few too many shots in to remember something like volume control.
“What confuses me is that… you went to alllllll this trouble to set up a cover ‘n’ then I ask you what kind’a construction you work, ‘n’ you tell me––and I quote–– ‘Uhhh Just construction.
A laugh follows, bright and uninhibited as she shakes her head at him.
“Did you just not think I’d ask? Do people normally not ask? Or d’you just flash that pretty smile of yours ‘n’ get away with that kind of stuff?”

He listens patiently — intently, gaze unwavering even as he moves to raise that freshly uncapped bottle to his lips.

He’s probably in just as deep as AJ, if not, more. But he hasn’t quite tipped the edge as she has — Jesse able to handle his alcohol fairly well, compared to most. It allows him to take in more of the situation, watching — attention piquing at her question. It brings a wrinkle to his nose, Jesse taking a few seconds to think over his answer.

It’s not that he didn’t have a cover story that first night he’d met AJ. In fact, he’d DRILLED that file for months before coming out here. Jesse knew it front and back, word for word. There’s very few things out there that’d make him BLANK on something like that...

          — apparently AJ was just one of those things...

“They usually don’t ask.” he replies with a chuckle, not quite as loud as hers, as he sets the bottle back down to the counter. He settles further into his seat, arm draping over the back as his features take on an amused, CROOKED smile. “But you may be onto somethin’ here...”

                    “ — y’ think my smile’s PRETTY?”

The best kind of people are the ones that come into your life, and make you see the sun where you once saw clouds. The people that believe in you so much, you start to believe in you too. The people that love you, simply for being you.

@quick-drawn liked for a starter !

“Cas! Hey, I finished patching up your poncho… cloak.. thingie for ya!” Kiwa called out to the cowboy from the doorway, holding up her hand with his poncho for him to take. “Listen, imma be honest, I dunno what this is meant to be and I’m a seamstress. Holes are all repaired though! Hope it’s okay?”

It was a pretty iconic part of his outfit— Kiwa did want to make sure it was repaired properly and looked good as new! On top of it being her job, y’know— as the crew’s general outfit repairwoman— she just liked doing small things to be helpful. In the state of the world currently, Kiwa thought random small acts of kindness could make someone happy!

“Ya seriously gotta be more careful though! Keep getting shot at so much and there won’t be much poncho left to repair!”

"I'll try t'keep that in mind, for next time." There’s a chuckle under his breath as he takes the serape into his own grasp, holding it up for a broad overview. To his delight, there were no longer any skylights letting the harsh light of the overheads through, and it seems she even managed to fix the rip that’s been working it’s way up from one of its rough edges.

"Reckon this ain't half bad — had some pretty high expectations of ya." He admittedly EXPECTED quality, considering her predecessors. "Ain't hard t'say you EXCEEDED 'em. Thanks, partner."

Cassidy pulls the fabric in, fingers brushing at it delicately as he takes a closer look at one of the stitches. "But I'm 'fraid you'd be right — not sure how many more missions this old thing's got in it. Been thinkin’, actually — what’d be th’charge t’come up with...somethin’ NEW? Somethin’ upgraded an’ maybe even a li’l more...y’know, UPDATED, if y’know what I mean? If — that's somethin' you'd be interested in.”

     @chronal-anomaly asked:
"If I run and leap at Jesse, he will most certainly catch me in his arms. Comin' in!" And that she does, dashing directly at him with that crooked grin.

It’s TOO EARLY for this shit...

     — not Lena, necessarily. But this MEETING...and maybe just people in general. It’s why his brow wrinkles at every slight raise of a voice from the other side of the room as they wait for the meeting to start, why he isolated himself to the coffee counter for the past ten fifteen minutes, and why he’d mean-mug every face walking by — in hopes of warding off any UNWANTED conversation. And it seemed to be working, at least until...well —

          “Lena...WAIT — ”

He quickly slides to his feet from where he sat on the counter, but neglected to set down the coffee mug that remained in his hand — even as the younger woman took her leap of faith into his not-so-welcoming arms. Of course, he wouldn’t let that stop him from catching her; instead, it’s the cup that falls to the floor with a CRACK loud enough to draw the attention of the entire room.

The utter SHOCK was quick to drain from his expression as she settled into his grasp, Jesse’s side eye gaze sharp as the rest of his features deadpan in discontent. Anybody else watching can surely tell this wasn’t her first time doing that...

“Consider yourself LUCKY — you’d done that jus’ a few minutes earlier an’ that’d be you on th’floor...” he mumbles, a glance towards the scattered mess at his feet.

She must’ve learned from last time — when she’d attempted that same stunt BEFORE he’d gotten a few sips of his morning coffee in...

                    — it wasn’t a pretty sight. For JESSE, mainly...
