Hi! I have a question omg I hope you don’t mind. First of all, I love your art so thank you so much for creating something so beautiful lol. I have a question though on using procreate! I just started and here’s my issue. I’m trying to color something right, but then when I want to color something else, I end up going over the lines and coloring the thing I don’t want to. I know there’s a way to be able to color on only the one thing you want to color at the time, so you don’t mess up on coloring the other stuff, but idk how to do it omg 😭. Can you help please? I’m sorry if this message is so random lol. All I know is that it has something to do with clipping mask or is it alpha lock?
Ahh thank you so much for the kind message! I think this may be what you are looking for? I don't use this feature too often because I use the really old school "manually outline and color drop" technique, but this may help ;-;

Aww thank you! Oh man, I’ve been drawing for ages, but I’ve never been consistent. I want to say at least 15 years, but I would draw for a few months at a time while I’m into a fandom, and then stop for a few years T___T I definitely wish I was more consistent though!

There’s so many things here I don’t know what they even mean lmao but, I think I need to learn properly so that any of my art even comes out looking decent 😅. Like clipping mask, alpha lock, add etc. I see a lot of stuff omg. And the layers too. Oh wait! Ok so, I bought a glass for this thing because well, it definitely didn’t cost five bucks lmfao, so I wanted to protect it well. Do you think I’ll have trouble drawing maybe due to it? 🤔
There is so much stuff!! It can get so overwhelming at times, but I hope you don’t feel pressured to try to learn them all.
By glass, do you mean a screen protector? Or a case? If that’s what you mean, I actually have one of those “paperlike” screen protectors on mine. It’s a more matte protector and makes it feel like you’re drawing on paper. I haven’t personally tried drawing on the glass screen, but I know of many artists who do that so it shouldn’t be a problem!
Hello! I have a question if you don’t mind me asking ^^. I first off wanted to say tour artwork is so beautiful 😭. It’s not complex but simple, and it is still beautiful 😩. I hope you don’t take any offense in that lol. I am starting out digitally myself! I got an iPad recently and an Apple Pencil :). I wanted to ask, what program do you use? Is it procreate? It seems artists nowadays use that or photoshop. If it’s either one, what brushes do you use and like how did you learn how to use it lol. My friend was trying to teach me how to use procreate once and I was like @_@. Lmao. So many options in there!!

Yes, I also do use Procreate! Before that, I was on Photoshop, but I like the portability of the iPad much more than being stuck at my laptop or computer. A few tips I would offer:
1. I use this brush pack from Procreate (https://procreate.art/all-star), which was released during the holidays last year. I pretty much solely use Artist Script for lining and coloring, but sometimes also stray to the dry ink brush (under the ink subcategory) or the fine line brush.
2. A lot of figuring out what brush you like is just playing around. If you double tap on each brush, it opens an options tab where you can test out the brush in the top part of the window. Something I just found out recently (which is kind of embarrassing, actually) is that the “streamline” option is for line stabilization. I think that would really help with line art if you’re just starting out!
3. Some other tricks/shortcuts to Procreate:
- If you have the 2nd gen pencil, I believe you can tap on it to switch between the brush and eraser (I have the gen 1, but my friend who has the gen 2 told me this!)
-Double tapping the screen with two fingers will undo your last action
-Swiping left on each layer will give you an option to duplicate the layer, which helps a lot when I want to test something out in a layer but not completely undo my progress.
