You don't understand the beauty of amongst all the Persephone retellings in recent years of her kidnapping by hades as something romantic, desirable, and divinely feminine-

Having a Persephone in stray Gods who is a masculine queer woman, who did not fall in love with her kidnapper and instead killed him to escape his abuse and entrapment of her. It's so unbelievably refreshing and I love how they handled her character in this game so so much.

Some more stray gods fanart this time of my wife

This one I didn't expect it to turn out as good as it did but sometimes you gotta trust the process :]

Also it is a TRAVESTY that you cannot romance her >:( let me woo the snake woman

Also @onehopefuldreamer thank you for your kind words Abt my art, seeing strangers genuinely enjoy my art makes me so happy and seeing your reblogs of my stray gods fanart makes my day :D

You just made my whole day! Medusa is a huge personal favourite and I'm also of the opinion that it was a complete travesty that Grace couldn't romance her so any and all extra Medusa content is deeply appreciated. This is wonderful and has me smiling really wide right now. Thank you so much! I'm very happy my reblogs make you happy because your art does the same for me. ❤️

Mythologic Geekery: Ares

When it comes to Ares... he is an interesting god. Because we do not quite know where he comes from. Now, obviously war gods are quite common in mythologies. And within the Greek mythology they are so common, that half of the fucking pantheon has a war-aspect to them. Even motherfucking Aphrodite has an armored up war version of herself. Which almost makes Ares superfluous.

Within Mycanean Greece, there was the Enyalios as a war god, who later in Hellenistic Greece shows up as a son of Ares again. But some scholars assume that he was the prototype for Ares, especially as in some eras Enyalios was also an alternate name for Ares.

The other possible origin for Ares is, that like Hermes split from Pan, Ares might have split from Zeus.

The reason for this is two-fold. For once, there is the fact that obviously Zeus has a waring aspect to him (again, most Greek gods have this), but also... In almost all other Indo-European mythologies the war god is just an aspect of the god father (who often, but not always is the Sky Father).

The most notable examples of this are obviously Odin and YHW.

So, why did the Greeks have an exclusive war god?

Well, maybe because war was really important to their culture. We usually think of Greece as this culture of philosophers. But we cannot forget that it was also a culture of war. An aspect that obviously became more important, when the Romans entered the picture.

But yes, all in all Ares is kinda an anomaly within the Greek mythology, that we have not quite figured out yet.

I just want to do a short shout-out to all of the Stray Gods fan art and fanfiction creators. You all are the best and a constant source of happiness and inspiration. I can't believe how insanely gifted this fandom is and I'm absolutely thrilled to be here with you. It's been a while since I've been this excited about a new fandom but this one has definitely exceeded all my expectations. So much talent, so much joy. *happy sigh*

I think four romance options is plenty, but while playing I did find myself wishing I could spend more time with a few characters (mainly Hermes and Medusa) so I wondered what characters others would be interested in

(for some reason this poll wasn't showing up in the tags, so I'm posting it again.)

I'm still bitter we didn't get a chance to meet Medusa again and sing a different song together like she wanted. I got my hopes up when she said that only for them to be dashed shortly after. We might have spent relatively short time with her but she's the character I'm going most feral over right after Persephone. And considering Persephone is one of the main LIs that means a lot. I'll pay good money for Medusa DLC, please and thank you.
