So as it turns out James Somerton did in fact fake his suicide note, and did a bunch of other stuff in the meantime
oh my GOD
just to recap: james somerton
- never actually acknowledged the fraud he did or returned the money he made by committing fraud
- threw his supposed best friend under the bus (specifically blaming him for any bigoted statements he made)
- made two - TWO - "apology" videos that only dug his hole deeper and involved several more absolutely bizarre lies
- FAKED A SUICIDE NOTE AND POSTED IT TO TWITTER, THEN APPARENTLY SAT BACK AND WATCHED TV FOR SEVERAL DAYS WHILE KAT AND HARRY FUCKING PUT TOGETHER A WELLNESS CHECK FOR HIM
- in the meantime also sockpuppeting defenses of himself (so much for him "taking responsibility" and just trying ~so hard~ to apologize and getting tragically, coldly denied)
- and now is trying to perpetuate THE SAME FUCKING FRAUD without a hint of irony

One of the funniest failures of US school system is the fact they are legally obligated to teach us all the states but they never actually show how big Alaska is like I have actually had teachers tell me that Texas is the biggest state. We have all just convinced ourselves that Alaska is that small shrunken down thing on most US maps and the people that know it's the largest state can almost never accurately describe how large it is.

It has a national park that’s bigger than maine. Or Switzerland. A park.
I lived in Alaska for two years and I will never get over the sheer overwhelming bigness of it.
Nights where the sky is clear you can see clusters of stars or the Northern Lights dancing. When the lights are rippling especially strong and fast you can hear a static crackle in the air. When the moon is out after it’s snowed, you don’t need flashlights to see. Everything glows and glimmers like polished quartz.
But when the sky is clouded over so you can’t see the stars, you can kind of almost sense the mountains towering over you and helping to block out the light, these giant monoliths acting like this void darker than your soul. I’ve never experience night like Alaska night.
Everything is big, the mountains, the sky, the valleys.
And the dark.

If any of y’all didn’t know, there’s a free online library, aka
and I found like, twelve ebooks I’ve been wanting to read on there, and blasted through like three of them during the course of a boring-ass shift.
Guy there are books on magic on there.
There’s books on EVERYTHING there!
Wouldn’t this be bad for authors though? or is this like a normal library where they get /some/ money?
It’s like a normal library. Libraries can upload ebooks there and let people check them out through openlibrary if you have an openlibrary account, or it can point you to nearby libraries that have physical copies of the book for you to go and check out. If you check out books via openlibrary it counts towards the count of books checked out from the library that uploaded the ebook, and they can use it in their reporting and funding and stuff.
There’s like 150 libraries partnered with openlibrary so far.
They also have copies that you can check out if you are print-disabled.
You can also ‘sponsor a book’, which means you pay the cost of the ebook you want openlibrary to acquire, and then they can add it to their collection and let people check it out.
I sure did!
And click on a title even if it says ‘no ebook available’ and scroll down, ‘cause sometimes that just means “all of the copies of ebooks are checked out right now but you can get on the waitlist when it’s back in”
