“I didn’t notice..” She truthfully said as she got Toby out the pram before turning to sunny. “It’s uncle sunny!” She giggled at the childs happy smiley face. “Why so late?”
sunny grinned his gummy smile, waving awkwardly at the child in front of him. he didn’t mind children, not that had had any kind of experience with them. he shrugged, leaning back where he sat. “ lost track of time. ” he said simply. “ been here long ? ”
“ I sure wish they’d have more places nearby to relax. Like cafes with cute themes or soothing workspaces. “ She paused. “ Wouldn’t that make people more motivated to work? ” Mi-young isn’t really sure who she was talking to–aside from herself that is. But she also doesn’t really mind if the person standing next to her would answer her voiced out thoughts.
sunny listened from his spot close-by, considering not answering because he hated conversation with strangers, but also wanting to share a piece of himself with her. recently, sunny had tried being more brave. he was working so hard to get over his social phobia, and taking steps like this were important. after a moment, he spoke. “ do you like cats ? ” he asked.
Minhyuk’s clothes, hands, and face were spotted with paint – he had spent all day working on a new piece, and clearly, he didn’t mind. He wore the look as a trophy, even though he did occasionally get weird looks when he went out looking like a walking painting. He had to look the part if he wanted to sell the art. He approached someone on the sidewalk, and was speaking before they could avoid them. “Hello! It’s nice to see you. I just finished a painting. It’s called The Universe Shrinks. Nice, right? If your interest is peaked, I’ll show you pictures and we can talk about prices. How about it?”
the sudden appearance of a stranger caused sunny to jump, his heart quickening a little with anxiety. he listened to what the other said, gazing at the painting and smirking with a raised eyebrow. sunny dug in his pockets, knowing he didn’t have near enough money as what the other was looking for. he pulled out some crumpled singles and held them out. “ i got about ... three dollars. if that’s in your price range. ” he joked.
despite sunny saying no, jaemi stuck her hand in the pocket of her jean jacket anyway, soon retrieving a rather crumpled ball of money, but it was money nonetheless. she held it out to him as she spoke, “uh…here. this should be.. twenty-five dollars..? somewhere around there. i.. i don’t need it. please take it.”
sunny was hesitant, staring at the money in her hand. he hated taking money, but he was really running out of options. he sighed, pressing his ongue to the inside of his cheek as he looked at her. “ look, do you know shit about flowers ? ” he asked. “ my friend bought these ones and i don’t know shit about what’s nice. ” he explained. sunny was hopeless at picking out flowers himself, since juvia had been the one to buy these for his mom.
The sky was rather dull looking today as Evelyn pushed the pram into the cemetery. She always kept her family updated on Toby’s case because they were always like that. Sometimes a friend would join her so she wasn’t alone but Evelyn didn’t know where he was today. Approaching the headstone and the bench opposite, she began talking. “Another court date Mama.”
sunny was running late in meeting evelyn, as had decided just to meet her there. he caught sight of her quickly, knowing exactly where the headstone was that she always visited. sunny chose not to call out, since a cemetery wasn’t exactly the place to be shouting. instead, he just approached, sitting on the bench beside her with his hand buried in his hoodie. “ hey, ” he greeted. “ sorry i’m late. ”
Mihyun stared at him, green eyes dull. “I lost one at the age of 10, the other at 17. Another 2 at 20.” She answered sadly, sniffling. “So no, It’s just a death anniversary”
“ i understand. ” he really did get it. “ you’ve lost a lot. ” sunny nodded, bowing his head in sympathy for the girl. he got closer, crouching in front of her so they were at an equal level. “ my dad is here, too. he died when i was fourteen. ” he wanted to let her know he understood.
Mihyun looked up slowly from her cradled position, seeing someone. “No. not really.” Her voice rather broken at this point, eyes red raw and she looked like pure trash. In hands was the rose she had brought but forgot to place since she had straight up laid down near the stone.
“ did you ... ” sunny knew it was dumb to ask what was wrong, as the girl was obviously mourning a loss. “ did you lose them recently ? ” he asked gently. he wasn’t entirely sure what to do, but he took a step closer to her so that they could talk.
jaemi’s eyes widened – had she just caused that? she stood still and silent for a few moments, unsure of what to do. when she finally spoke, her words were quiet and rushed. “oh. oh jeez. um. i’m really sorry about that. i didn’t– i didn’t mean to. do you– do you need flowers? i can give you money to buy more. i’m sorry. i’m so sorry.”
sunny let out a sigh. “ don’t be. it’s fine. ” his tone was irritated but it was mostly because of the inconvenience it had called. “ it’s okay, i can afford it. ” sunny stuck his hands in his pockets, feeling nothing but his phone. “ fuck. ” he said again, realising he had actually spent the last of his money.

it was the first time in weeks sunny was visiting his mom. he had put it off for too long, and was now on his way to the home, clutching flowers in his hand. he had been so lost in his thoughts, that he ended up colliding with another person, causing him to drop the flowers into a dirty puddle on the sidewalk, completely ruining them. “ fuck. ” he said in anguish.
Today was a sad day for Mihyun. She didn’t even go to work, she was laying in bed looking at the ceiling with sad thoughts filling her head. Today was a death anniversary in her family but she mourned all the family instead. Picking a day where they would all gather and it would be May 8th because of their love for everything Star wars but the family would always do it 4 days later instead making family tradition. Eventually, She got out of bed getting dressed in black to visit the local cemetery where she put a headstone in place for the Moon family when she arrived in Greenville so they were with her. Her eyes were very sullen and her hair rather messy, no one would of noticed her. Mihyun simply entered the gates and went to the grave stone where she’d just huddle herself in the fetal position to cry her eyes out and putting down an updated picture of her with some flowers. Tears streamed down her bare face as she remembered that she had no family left. Doing this for years on her own was tiring but she never told her friends or people she was close to about it apart from Jaemi who was near enough family but wasn’t even then Jaemi was busy to attend. Mihyun would lay there, All day and night until the next morning. This girl only portrayed happiness, never sadness.
staying at home was dangerous for sunny. it was quiet, and lonely. a place where it was easy for his dark thoughts to get the best of him. he liked walking, though. the fresh air was comforting. before he knew it, sunny found himself walking to the cemetery. his dad was buried there, and the boy tended to visit often. it was nice to talk to him every once in a while. he was sat on the grass beside it, arms casually wrapped around his knees as he stayed there in silence. it wasn’t until he heard distance sobs that he actually moved. he should have expected it from a cemetery, but he had never heard someone so distraught before. sunny approached slowly, contemplating whether to call out to the girl or not. usually, he wouldn’t. but sunny knew what grief felt like. “ hey, ” he called awkwardly. “ are you okay ? ”

“ that i’m really not okay. i mean, i was never okay. but the love of my life is off loving someone else and there’s nobody to blame but myself for being so dumb as to think he might love me back. why would he love a mess like me ? ”

“ riceball makes my world! he just makes me so happy and ... it just feels a lot less lonely now. i love him, and i am so so thankful to juvia for giving him to me. ”

“ anxiety, frustration, sad movies, unexpected kindness, there’s more but i could go on all day. ”
what do you do when you can't sleep?
“ usually call minho but ... not so much anymore. juvia takes me for drives to get me to sleep sometimes. other than that i’ll just ... sit there. ”
