Nerdy Jewish girl, advocating for better Jewish representation everywhere
Avatar

Dear Marvel. it’s time we had a talk. And although this is not just your problem but an industry problem, we need to figure out ways to address it and talk about it. Moon Knight missed the mark and with potentially Four more Jewish characters joining the MCU (Magneto, Kitty Pryde, Ben Grimm and Billy Kaplan), it is imperative, now more than ever, to keep Jewish characters Jewish, and not erase their identity, ethnicity, or religion.

If Marvel wants to celebrate its amazing pull of characters, then they should celebrate all of them.

It's incredible how people have been protesting pants and skirts not having pockets but not a single peep is heard over the fact that skirts no longer have underskirts by default. Underskirts (or lining) was a thing when I was a child, no skirt would be made without lining, you didn't have to think and check if your whole ass is visible in a skirt because lining was a thing!!!! Now most skirts don't and it's simply because it's cheaper, fuck the fact that a customer doesn't want their panties shown in broad daylight, it saves a couple of cents on material.

okay so this has definitely breached containment and I want to point something out:

  • Yes slips are a thing but that's beyond the point. It's not just about skirts, it's the fact that garments have lost any quality they used to have and it's only getting worse.
  • Also, telling people to just buy a slip??? We don't tell women to buy a purse if she don't have pockets on her jeans?? Slips are an additional cost we should not be shouldering. They are often expensive, not size inclusive and unlike a lining that's made SPECIFICALLY for the skirt it's sewn onto, a slip might be too long or too short or just not look right.
  • as someone pointed out in the tags even coats and other garments have started to be sewn without lining and the purpose of lining is more than to hide your underwear.
  • The purpose of a lining is to add to the comfort of the wearer; preserve the shape of a garment or add body to it; and conceal construction details and raw edges of fabric, thus giving a finished appearance to the inside of the garment. A neatly applied lining usually adds to a garment quality.
  • I own a wool coat from an Austrian company that no longer exists (thanks thrifting), and it is in impeccable state. It has no tears, not one pulled thread and the shape still holds despite it being probably around 80 years old. Meanwhile another coat I had bought recently at a store already has a gaping hole where the stitches started unraveling. this ISN'T NORMAL!
  • Our clothes should last us, we should stop being ok with the absolute fuckery that is fast fashion and demand garments that will not break apart after two months.

guys remember in season 4 when Buck got therapy and said he thinks he agrees that he hides his feelings from people and we all thought that meant bi buck canon

well. i wouldn't be surprised if that's when they wanted to do the bi buck storyline but had to back off cuz the people from somewhere above said no....

LITERALLY Was my first thought when I read that interview. Especially cause they never elaborated on that thread and it was just abandoned.

EXACTLY!!! like hello??? and the jokes about him seeing a woman and dating someone and it was really a therapist and he "hid his feelings from people" then it was completely dropped even tho we had all the stuff with his parents and Buck Begins?? it made NO sense!!! like something was missing.

Yup! Also... when did Josh and Buck have dinner/game night with Maddie and Chim? Cause Buck was single and complained AND Josh said something along the lines of thinking Maddie was setting them up and Buck looked like he wasn't opposed to the idea. Oh that must have been season 3. Oh well, would have been interesting to use that as a hint for the doing the arc in season 4.

Anonymous asked:

So you're not a traitor for shipping buddie for 6 years and then once another man with a dick shows up and you jump ship just like that?....you're not a traitor? Really? It's the definition of it

I just gonna put this response on display as proof of how out of control this fandom is…

Do... do these idiots 1. not understand what multishipping is and 2. actually care about these characters? Like Holy Kirby. This is not real life. There's no "betrayal" people can ship what they ship. Frankly these people don't deserve Buddie to become canon. No one owes it to you to support or ship your ship. Leave people alone.

I feel like its an important distinction that for 4/5 of the fire fam, these people are the most ride or die friends in the world. The relationships they have with each other are the strongest platonic relationships they have ever had

but for Buck he views these relationships 100% as familial, likely because his relationships with his blood family (yes including Maddie) were so strained when he found them

to be clear, this does not mean he cares about the 118 more than any of the others because of this, familial love is not necessarily stronger than platonic love, its more that when he feels unmoored in the 118, he completely looses his sense of identity in a way the others don't because he has internalized being part of the 118 as core to his sense of self the same way a lot of people internalize the culture and history of their blood family as being central to their identity

That's a good take. It is also important to note that, no matter what, everyone has found/ has a life outside of being a firefighter. Hen and Karen, Bobby and Athena and May and Harry, Eddie has Chris, his Tia, etc, Chim has Maddie, and although Buck also has Maddie, she's his sister... she has a life and friends of her own too like Josh.

Christopher is Eddie's son, and they have a strong bond, but that only reinforces your point that it is familiar, he views the 118 as his family.

Outside the 118, the only friend Buck actually had was Taylor... before they started dating...which I didn't really. But that's a separate thing.

bobby telling eddie that he can commit to shannon, when the man ran away to afghanistan, twice, and then refused to move to california, only moving there when he got a job offer, and then still not reconnecting, and then still hesitating to let her back in, and then once he does let her back in, hides her from their son. yeah sure he can commit

So I've been thinking about this. Eddie mentions that although he did love Shannon, they got married because of Chris and que more Catholic guilt. IDK if we're meant to interpret this way or not. But is it just that women are the ones he has trouble committing to without societal pressure and catholic guilt. Cause he sure didn't seem to have any issues committing to Buck, even platonically. I mean he made the guy the guardian of his own son despite Pepa, and his sister being able, and likely willing to take Chris in if the worst happened. Like at the time his relationship with his parents was still rocky, and still is now, so I get not picking them. But he has sisters, cousins, etc.

OH BOOOOO even if he just thought it was wrong for the show/scene that's fine but being one of those "takes away from the story" people is so lame come on be a man

Avatar
geekgirl101

I don't think he's entirely wrong. There have been so many times where I'm watching a show and the characters start making out and I'm like. HELLO, this place is about to blow, or there's an invasion coming, or like... maybe this isn't the time for a huge full-blown make-out session. And do not get me started on sex scenes in movies. Like holy Kirby. I cannot tell you how many times a sex scene has ruined a movie or taken me out of it. Oppenheimer is a great example of that.

That being said. There is a time and place for it, and it can work that's all. I don't think Lou was necessarily against it. But that it needs to add something and be part of the story. But that is also just his preference. I very much would gladly enjoy a scene of Buck and Tommy just being lazy in bed and talking. I think that shows a level of intimacy between characters.

Maybe controversial opinion but I really don't want Bucks coming out to be made about Eddie's jealousy. Like I'm not completely against future jealous Eddie (I'll always love and hope for Buddie) but can Buck please get a nice coming out and self discovery and first relationship with a man experience first? I know there'll be drama and some angst no matter what but I really don't want it to be immediately messy just for the sake of establishing buddie, if that makes sense

My Thoughts on Tommy and Buck

I love that it's a character we know instead of introducing a brand-new character. LFJ is very nice to look at too so that helps. Lol.

Plus I do like that Buck now has someone outside the 118 that we actually like. And yes, I know Tommy was part of the 118. But he's really not anymore. And sure he's still in the firefighter world. But it gives Buck something that is just his own. For however long this lasts.

And Buck and Tommy do have good chemistry. I like the banter. I like the potential. And I want Tommy to stick around for a little while. I hope the positive response to Tommy's return and Bi Buck also brings Tommy back for season 8. It will be cute to see Buck nervous, and clueless, and get to hopefully be vulnerable, and get some love.

Buck deserves a happy loving relationship where he gets the love he deserves. Like Buck gives off such little spoon energy. Tommy seems to be a great guy. We don't know much about him yet. if Buck and Tommy are together for now, it is not the end of the world and it doesn't mean your ship is sunk.

Buck and Tommy are a great way to end the hamster wheel. Let people enjoy it. Yes, I'm looking at those of you sending Buck/Tommy shippers anonymous hate. On the question of Buddie.

Eddie has Marisol, and thus far seems content with that. If this is a temporary relationship that's ok. But it's good that he dates someone he likes and has a positive dating experience. The only other woman he's dated was Anna (not counting Shannon, of course), and watching Paint Dry was more interesting than her and Eddie. Plus I think it can't hurt for Eddie to gain some dating experience to help him realize if he has a type, what he wants, and what he's missing.

I can still think Buck and Eddie would be great together and ship it. While also still happy if Buck and Tommy is a thing. People can have multiple ships with one character. It's not the end of the world.

And if by some odd circumstance, Buck and Eddie do not become canon, it doesn't diminish the importance of what they do have. But I think the majority of us know or think, or hope that Buddie is endgame. But its not gonna happen tomorrow or next episode, or this season. And that's ok. So. Stop hating on Tommy without any real reason. Stop hating people who like him with Buck
