hey i haven’t seen this gofundme circulating here yet, but this is organized by the son of Hyun Jung Grant, one of the eight atlanta shooting victims.  his mother was a single mom and they don’t have any other family in the united states, so he will be raising his younger brother and organizing the funeral on his own.

please consider sharing this link and/or donating to alleviate some of the stress and in memory of his mother and the other victims in atlanta.  the original goal at this time has been met, but this family will be dealing with long-term expenses on top of the trauma they’ve suffered.

this is a link to four verified gofundmes for families of the atlanta shooting victims.  the fundraising goals for Paul Michels and Elcias Hernandez Ortiz have not been met yet so please share and donate if you can

hmmmm voy s7 e12 repentance ....hmmmm not sure how i feel about the narrative that a murderer turns out to just be mentally ill and once he's "healed" he experiences guilt and is no longer a danger to society but i dont really have the words to fully articulate why this isn't sitting right with me?

and then at the very end of the episode the other death row inmate who was like "my race has a higher chance of getting convicted and sent to death and makes up a larger percentage of the prison complex in this sector" is just fully made out to be the "bad" guy???????????

WHAT is the moral trying to be made here. i think there's commentary about death sentence in here and an attempt to humanize people who have committed crimes in situations beyond their control- which i can appreciate. but they mixed apples and oranges and missed the mark altogether?????

it's "i was amab" not "i am amab"

it's not just a grammar thing. gender assignment at birth is something that is done to people. not something people are. it's a social force. it's not just 'biological sex' again. this distinction is very important and it's why we use agab language over birth sex language. don't forget.

see the thing about star trek is, the thing that the new treks don't really get i think, is that star trek is fundamentally about asking many different questions. and like sure those questions are philosophical some of the time like "what if the alien slaves like being slaves, should we do something about that?" and "in a universe with so many different life forms, why do we draw the line regarding sentience at artificial life forms?" and stuff, but also fundamentally star trek is about asking "what if you could get pregnant from holding hands and you started growing extra nipples as well" (such is life) and "if a ghost fucked your grandma and your mom and wanted to fuck you, would you fuck him in the name of tradition?" (yes) and "what if the local AI got really into larping and sherlock holmes?" (join him). like its about Having Fun and i cant enjoy a star trek that isnt like that. i dont want a 50 episode arc about the responsibility of captaincy, i want a 40 minute discussion about what it would be like if you were suddenly a lizard thats then never mentioned again.

Star trek is philosophy, but the philosophy you get into with your friends at 3am when you've stayed up all night watching a film and you're out of popcorn. Like. "OK but if we were made of corn, would cannibalism be ethical, or what?"
