tldr; rick started out with the basic pasty white and straight series which got hella successful and used his success to pusblish more books and allow only one (1) cishet and only one (1) white

He also makes his books incredibly funny, which is rather rare for YA and makes them more accessible to kids who don’t really like to read. In addition to having loads of POV character who have trouble reading themselves.

People saying there was no representation in PJO. Like the main character has a learning disability. The main character is neurodivergent. I have NEVER seen another kid/YA book do that. Usually kids with learning disabilities are comic relief at beat. But he wasn't. He was the main character.

This man literally wanted to be a poet after highschool but his dad said that was stupid, so now he teaches and has a farm with a rlly nice wife and he, after seeing my pentagram earnings I'd made, asked if I was wiccan and is super fucking chill....this man is who I aspire to be
