“The first ones weren’t as good though.” He relaxes against her, closing his eyes. “Maybe I should’ve gone for support instead of being a hero…”

Masako puffed out her cheeks. “Hey! Don’t go saying that, Hiro. You got into the hero program, didn’t you? That means you’re meant to be in it.”

Hiro smiles a little. “They should adjust for wind, too…” He moves to hug Masako again, leaning into her shoulder. “I hope these ones work better…”

Masako hugged Hiro right back, rocking side to side with him. “I’m sure they will, you made them after all!”

“Hiro is quite kind. He speaks highly of you.” Shoto hummed. “I hope his training goes well, he seems quite passionate about it.” Then again, who trained without being passionate?
Oh, right, Shoto did, sometimes.
“I’m sure he’ll be happy to see you after he’s finished training.” Then again, Hiro was the type - from what Shoto knew of him, anyway - to be happy to see friends. He wondered if Masako was the same. “It would be nice if we could be friends as well. Hiro would be happy to know we got along, I believe.”
That was a good enough way to ask to be friends, he hoped.

“Oh absolutely, Hiro’s always puts his all into everything he does. Been that way since we were in kindergarten.” She had known Hiro for years, but it was actually only recently that they got in contact again. When Masako entered high school she’d run into him and their friendship became just as strong as it had been since they were kids.

“And I don’t doubt he’ll be beaming when he sees me. We’re best friends, after all.” Masako smiled, happy that Hiro was making new friends already. “And I’d love to become friends with you. Just know that my wasps get a bit friendly with new friends.” She was joking--mostly. Her girls were a bunch of curious queens when it came down to it. But she had them under control when necessary.

“… Oh.” Hiro wiggles back after a moment, holding out a bag he’d had slung over his shoulder.
“… I was supposed to give this to you after school but I got caught up in extra lessons. … I finished your wings and recalibrated them to your weight range. They should catch you a bit faster if you lose balance in the air now. … And they fold up into the base so you can pack them up for easy travel.”

“Hm?” She watched as Hiro produced her wings from his bag and beamed. “Oh, thank you! That will come definitely be useful! You know how tough flying on windy days can be for me. Nearly landed in a tree that one time...”

“I wasn’t paying attention, so there’s no need to apologise. It’s as much my fault as yours, I’m sorry.”
Well, that was embarrassing. He had zoned out and the first thing he did was walk into someone. “I’ll make sure to be more careful.” Even if he had few social skills, he was glad some of that limited range was properly apologising.
If he had to know anything, that was it.
“You’re in second year, aren’t you?” He questioned, quietly. “I’ve heard a little about you before, so it’s lovely to meet you.” Very little, really, but enough to know she would make a good friend. Even though he only aimed for being on good terms, not necessarily friendship.
“May I ask your name? I’m Todoroki Shoto.”

Masako smiled a bit, glad that he was every bit as polite as Hiro told her he was. Otherwise he’d just seem intimidating. When he mentioned he’d heard of her she felt a bit of pride swell up in her chest. Yeah, it was probably stuff he’d heard from Hiro--probably referred to her as ‘Bee’ the whole time--but she didn’t care. She was just excited!

“That’s right. My name is Sato Masako from Class 2-B, it’s wonderful to finally meet you, Todoroki. Hiro’s told me a bit about you--all good things.” She chuckled a bit, hands on her hips. “I was actually going to meet up with him but it looks like he’s got some extra training to get done.”

Hiro pouts a little, having to lean down to be at eye level with his absolutely tiny friend.
Even if the gap was only ten cm.
“… You’re right, Bee.” He shifts a little, dropping forward a bit and buying his face in her shoulder. “…I can be heroic and look pretty doing it..”

She smiled and hugged her friend, patting his back. “That’s the spirit! You can beat the villains with your muscles and good looks!”

Sigh. “But what if I’m not…?”

She placed both her hands on his shoulders, pulling him down to her eye level. “There’s nothing wrong with being pretty. If anything....I’m jealous. Just look at those eyelashes! Gaaah they’re so cool!”

Classes were ending for the day and Masako was waiting for Hiro to meet up with her as usual. She hummed, leaning against the wall as first year students filed out of their classrooms. She wondered if any of them were still wondering what a second year was doing there. It wasn’t uncommon for her to wait for Hiro after school, so she hoped they were used to it by now. Her phone buzzed and she pulled it out to read her emails. The little bee phone charm Hiro got her dangled from the side.

“Awe man...” It looked like Hiro had to go do some extra training for class. She was bummed, but what could you do about it? She replied and stepped forward, only to bump into somebody as she was putting her phone away.

“Ah, I’m sorry I didn’t see you there.” She looked up to see who it was, only to be surprised that it was one of the famous first years, Todoroki Shouto.
