speaking a dead language (1/14?) | final fantasy xiv rdm/smn | 2000 words The one where Red Mage inherits a house and Summoner returns to Limsa to keep them company and realizes he may have fallen in a little too deep over his head.
From the Bokairo Inn, the Shiokaze Hostelry was about a twenty-minute walk.
Summoner liked to take his time for it, however, because of the salt on the breeze. Kugane had the familiar air of port cities that made him nostalgic without being homesick. Plus, Kugane’s charms came out at night, so the slower mornings brought the eclectic surroundings to a more acceptable pace.

6pm | final fantasy xiv light blm/smn | 671 words freshly tossed, loose canon salad.
Summoner had been lying comatose on the sofa for what must have been hours now. A mindful chirurgeon would have declared him dead. He had no pulse, no breathing, and beside the fact that his body had yet to go cold, he might as well have been a corpse. Any mindful or even remotely skilled chirurgeon would have declared him legally dead. Not Scholar, however. They had been here just this afternoon and declared it an aether imbalance instead. There was nothing they could do for Summoner now besides wait.

How do you write creepy stories

  • Over describe things
  • Under describe things
  • Fingers, teeth, and eyes
  • Short sentences in rapid succession build tension
  • Single sentence paragraphs build dread
  • Uncanny valley=things that aren’t normal almost getting it right
  • Third person limited view
  • Limited explanations
  • Rot, mold, damage, age, static, flickering, especially in places it shouldn’t be
  • Limited sights for your mc -blindness, darkness, fog, refuse
  • Real consequences
  • Being alone -the more people there are, the less scary it is
  • Intimate knowledge, but only on one side

I don’t know I just write scary things but I don’t know what I’m doing.

Rule of Thumb: your reader’s imagination will scare them more than anything you could ever write. You don’t have to offer a perfectly concrete explanation for everything at the end. In fact, doing so may detract from your story.

me writing dialogue: “what is man but a vessel through which a higher entity may see? what is his purpose? must he find a purpose? we are but stardust; the universe comprehending itself.”

me writing action: they ran real fast from the bad men aand legs hurty

me writing action: Her legs pounded against the earth, the familiar jolt grounding her like nothing else could. Magic, gods, royalty—she didn’t know anything about that. But running? That’s something she’d been doing since day one.

me writing dialogue: “I dunno man whatchu wanna do” “I dunno. What do you think?” “Hey man I don’t know”

me writing action: room go boom

me writing dialogue: noppity nope, that ain’t dope

Through his fingertips, he wove worlds of incomparable beauty. A maestro of technology, he conducted his world with the accompaniment of nanomachines.  The worlds were made to be populated by his creations, and yet he had found himself projecting the world onto the walls around him

the ecliptic (5/11) - brumaire

  • brumaire| 3087 words
  • elsword | EE, AP
  • priest!AU: a peaceful life for two people waiting for the rain.
The crops in the garden today hung low on their branches and bent their backs low in the dirt with the heavy toil of the corruption beating down. There was no reason to stand in the garden and watch each day, but Erbluhen always stood there anyway. Maybe one of these days, the crops would bloom and he would find himself blessed by Ishmael.

  • vendemiaire | 4161 words
  • elsword | EE, AP, RS, DC
  • priest!AU: the church of god brings revelations and plagues. a forgotten face returns.
  • notes plot heavy chapter uve been warned.
There was a cold passing through camp, and no one really knew how it began.
The nights weren't cold, and there wasn't much of a temperature difference from morning to evening. There was never so much as a cool breeze around. Rather, like the forest around them, even the air felt stale and dead. Getting sick seemed almost impossible.

The afternoon sun was shining through the garden. Arme could see it over the brim of Apostasia’s gigantic sunhat. He was gardening, and although earlier he had tried to convince Apostasia that it would be silly, Apostasia insisted, and Arme chose not to argue. It was just how he was.
