“The Kent State shootings (also known as the May 4 massacre or the Kent State massacre)[3][4][5] were the shootings on May 4, 1970 of unarmed college students by members of the Ohio National Guard at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio during a mass protest against the bombing of Cambodia by United States military forces. Twenty-eight guardsmen fired approximately 67 rounds over a period of 13 seconds, killing four students and wounding nine others, one of whom suffered permanent paralysis.[6][7]”

I’m Dutch and I’ve known this for decades, yet I somehow have to teach each and every American I meet. There is just so much propaganda. One day their textbooks will be in musea across the globe as the finest example of the longest running authoritarian regime with most successful propaganda. It’s startling, the number of Americans that are saying this is the first time they’ve ever heard of the Kent State shooting… The United States mastered propaganda during WW2, and because the people are immersed in the “patriot” ideology from their very first day of school, they dont realize how authoritarian and nationalistic the American ethos actually is.
