hi look this blog is dead, and im probably never coming back. but i saw a bunch of transphobes interacting with my posts so i just want to get it out there:

trans rights are human rights

your gender identity is valid

transphobia is rooted in an essentialism that is fundamentally irreconcilable with feminism!

hey conor, i know you really dig marcus aurelius and all - what do you think of the sudden popularity of stoicism in the media & the workplace? hope all is well xo

yo! i. think it maaaay be the usual slightly faddy reference to something to justify a superficially similar set of ideas under the same name. stoicism to my mind is a historically embedded tradition. its funny, a friend of mine was reading a book about being a modern stoic. i read some with him. fact is, the stoic mindset is Not one that is healthy for everybody. some things it proclaims (esp vis continuation of life being an unweighted choice) are downright destabilising. their approach to those with mental health issues (obviously, being milennia old) is more than a little out of date and touch. i think peoplw like to ground things historically. makes it sound more the part. i havent looked into it masses myself as a modern movement. what i have seen has not impressed me much. i am open to being convinced though. great question! love conor xo
