Nolde Forest Pomade Collaboration
The Nolde Forest pomade is a collaboration between The Mail Room Barber Co and Cody Calhoun, a photographer from Pennsylvania. The official release date is July 22nd, 2015. Before we get too deep into the story, lets talk details. The pomade comes in a 3.5 oz glass jar. It has a medium to heavy hold, depending on how much is applied, has a medium shine, lasts all day, but washes out with just one shampoo unlike traditional oil based pomades that refuse to come out. We chose all natural, vegan friendly, ethically sourced ingredients that moisturize the hair and scalp, leaving your hair soft and replenished rather than stripping it of it's natural oils. It is an oil based pomade, but contains no Petrolatum or other synthetic ingredients. The scent is fresh and crisp like the smell of a forest right after it rains, with the musky, deep notes of damp pine straw. Somewhere deep within the Nolde Forest Cody reached out to me back in February about working together on a product photography project. After seeing his work, I was really excited and flattered that he asked to work with me. I sent him a few jars of pomade and bottles of beard oil, and since then we've built a friendship on our mutual interests in pomade and photography. You can find a lot of his work sprinkled throughout my site and on my social media accounts. A lot of the photos are actually from the Nolde Forest, a beautiful woodland in Pennsylvania and one of Cody's favorite hiking spots, which is why we decided to name our collaboration after it. Timrod Park, Florence X SC // From left: Cody Calhoun, Robert Watkins Cody and his wife Olivia were on their honeymoon in Florida, so on their drive back to Pennsylvania, they stopped in Florence, SC for a few days in the beginning of June to hangout and finalize all of the details on the collaboration. It was awesome getting to spend a few days with them, taking photos and working on the pomade It's really cool to me that what started as a business relationship over email has turned into a lasting friendship. TMRBC Headquarters X Florence, SC We spent a lot of time in my work room, tweaking and adjusting the formula until we came to the final recipe. After all of the work was done, Cody and Olivia packed the car and headed back to PA. At the first chance he got, Cody took a few jars out into Nolde Forest and made these photos for the release. If you're interested in trying it out, Nolde Forest will be available on July 22nd! Contact me or Cody with any questions you have! - Robert Watkins

Kick Starter

Hello everyone,

I’ve had this dream to always travel across the United State to take pictures. There is something about the west thats just close to my heart yet I haven’t been there.  I had a thought about making a kick starter to get me out there and back home.  It would be like a 3 week trip just traveling and taking photographs.  My question to all my followers and to anyone that wants to support this photo trip would be, who would actually donate to my trip.  At this time I have not set up any date that I will be going and how much I would need. But Im just asking to see how many people would help me get out there and see the photos that I take along the way.

Thanks everyone for following me over the years and many more to come
