ALRIGHT DS FANS. YOUR SHOW NEEDS YOU.

This week’s episode will be the last before the annual ABC upfronts (which are held the day before the finale) and the ratings ACTUALLY MATTER. So encourage anyone you know who likes the show to watch it as soon as they can.

This counts for worldwide fans (though not Germany, weirdly. We need you to watch 2x20 that I believe is available there on Friday) who watch on Netflix too. YOUR VIEWS COUNT. International Netflix figures, while not shared like the ratings are, are shared in distribution agreements like the one ABC has with Netflix for DS.

Can’t watch tomorrow night live? No problem, unless you’re a Nielsen household it likely doesn’t matter anyway, not for the live ratings but your streaming views on ABC/Hulu and your DVR recordings *do* count. Though for the DVR ratings, 2x20 may be better again because the Live+7 for 2x20 will be out. So if that is on your DVR watch it, then watch it again just because it was a really good episode. (You’d know if you were a Nielsen household so don’t worry about it).

The biggest thing though… social media. We don’t have an amazingly interactive cast but we do have an interactive PR team and they DO pay attention to how many tweets are in the tag, and how many people are watching on Facebook. So annoy your relatives with checking in to watch the show on Facebook and get tweeting. Use the hashtag #DesignatedSurvivor and @ABCDesignated when you’re tweeting. Make them see that we love this show.

Rumours and speculation have largely been good, but we’re not out of the woods and it’s not a done deal. They could still decide to pull the show for next season and that’s it, cancelled, it’s too late now for another network to snap us up. Netflix would still be a possibility but a long-shot right now.

I know we’ve had a rough season, and we’ve all had a lot of things happen that we maybe didn’t appreciate. But let’s get together behind it and get our show a third season.

Shin!! i still think of u whenever i see a "have a coke with erika" on the shelves. :( :( i do and will miss u!!!!

geekboots replied to your post “PSA and semi-goodbye”

i'll miss you, Shin. live long and prosper.

<3 you’re welcome to bug me any time. It’s just been so hard for me to come on here since my sister died, since so many of my posts and so much of the things i did that went on this blog were related to what I did with her. A lot of the things I used to be into are just... so tied up in what I did with her that I don’t do them any more.

I’ll miss you both, you’re two of my favourite people to have met through tumblr, and I do still think of you both often (along with a few others who can probably guess who they are.)

I know I don’t have to explain, but I feel like part of coming to accept how much has changed is to talk about it frankly. It’s been almost 20 months and if I can’t face things by now I probably won’t be able to again.

PSA and semi-goodbye

So, friends. You all may have noticed that for the last year my Tumblr activity has been close to 0 (not counting Eurovision). I just lost all care about it, not about the wonderful people I met here but just about interacting. This blog has a lot of history, maybe too much history at this point.

What I’m really trying to say is that... I’m officially calling it a day with this blog. I’m not deleting it, I’m not going to change anything on it I’m just going to... leave it here. Along with all of it’s side-blogs.

I have a new personal blog, but it’s not going to have much posted on it. I’m starting it mostly so I can post gifs and pictures of Zoe McLellan now that she has a new regular role. It’s @kendradaynes if people are interested. I’ll probably also post As It Is stuff there.

As always, my twitter and instagram are available for all to follow. Thank you all so much for the years of friendship and fandom. Thanks for the memories.

Further reflections from a Mancunian

Basically, I’m using Tumblr as a place to waffle on right now because I have so many thoughts and emotions about this city and I don’t know where else to put them but this is home for me and the more I see and the more I feel and the more I know about the great people I share this home with gives me more pride and joy and love for it.

I’ve seen two amazing poems, one I’ll share at the end of this post, one I’ll link to the performance of, and both just symbolise the spirit of the city that will not be defeated by these hatefilled acts.

Thousands were at the town hall tonight. Thousands there in solidarity, and millions more in spirit. Every thought was with the families of those who died, with those who are fighting for their lives, those who are going to suffer the psychological aftermath of being a part of this and just with those who call this great place home.

The press may focus on the suspect, on his motives. Manches ter will focus on the victims, we always have. We’re a city of empathy. The most ardant defenders of our Muslim brothers and sisters in the aftermath of this are Mancunians. We know they don’t condone this. We know they aren’t at fault for this. The terrorists are.

Whatever happens, however much time passes, i’m so proud that Manchester continues to do things a little differently to the rest of the country. We won’t be beaten by this, and we won’t be scared.

Reflections from a Mancunian

So, most people know I’ve lived here in Greater Manchester most of my life and I take great pride in my city, regularly calling it my favourite city in the world and my favourite place on Earth (and it is) and while last night shook me, I’ll tell you why it won’t change this beautiful, inclusive, loving city that I am so proud to call home.

We have been attacked before, multiple times. We’ve lost children before. We rally, we mourn together, we support together. For a city of it’s size we’re a very close-knit community. Maybe that’s why it’s hit so hard that this brand of terrorism has hit us. Children, children at a concert at the Arena.

I went to my first concert at the Arena (back in… I think 2001) I was 14. I was just the age these missing kids were. I can picture the terror. I was right there, outside the Arena, inside Victoria train station, on Sunday. It’s not far from me. I was actively involved in helping people find others, find shelter, find a warm drink last night. I did all I could without rushing to the city and making it harder for people to do their jobs.

We won’t change because the immediate reaction of Mancunians was not fear, or hatred, or anger. It was love. Simple, selfless love. Immediately people were there to offer support, to offer places to sleep. Taxi drivers were driving people home free of charge, hotels were giving away rooms free for the night. Locals were opening their homes to people who desperately needed somewhere to bed down, to text their family and friends that they were OK.

A homeless man who was planning to beg at the end of the show instead cradled a dying woman and ensure she didn’t die alone.

These are the stories that symbolise my city. These are the things I am proud of.

Manchester, Stay Strong. We love you.

What Shin said.

Just in case any of my followers are concerned - I’m fine, everyone I know is fine (unless any of my coworkers were affected - keeping my fingers crossed for them). But it is very close to home. I work about a 5 minute walk away from where the bomb went off; I left work less than an hour before the bomb went off, and the police cordon is just a block or so away from my office. One of the bits of footage that’s been playing everywhere of people running out of the arena was taken from inside Victoria train station, and to one side there’s a ticket machine, and all I could think was… Shin and I were right there on Sunday picking up tickets from that machine.

All I can say is… If you want to bomb a city, if you want to create fear and create hate, then Manchester’s the wrong place to choose. Because we don’t give in to those things. We never have, and we never will.

Reblogging for Helen’s addition.

To the people who messaged me

I am fine, I was at home.

I have friends who were at the Arena, I think everyone has checked in.

I am heartbroken, this happened in my home.

I expected us to do worse

Only upside... Portugal is close enough that the Cuddlepile could potentially go.
