Hey I was wondering what software you used to color the peach sprite and also if there was a specific technique because it looks really similar to the actual fire emblem sprites

The software I use is Photoshop CS6!

mhm thanks I tried my best to make it look like it was from Kozaki himself but I can’t deny that some parts of it are still in my own art style

The only true specific technique can only Kozaki know, but I can tell you how I did it~

First of all I thought about a pose for peach, sketched it and then did the line art in my normal way.

Then comes the base color. Here I took the color of her offical Super smash bros art work. The way her umbrella looks is taken of her Mario Paper design

Okay, now let’s get to the interesting part! First of all I made a custom brush. This brush draws 8 lines at the same time and also has a slightly texture in it. I created a new layer and drew vertical lines. (They don’t have to be perfectly straight) copy and paste the lines and place them next to each other. Continue this till the body is filled with vertical lines. Set the opacity to 10% and create a mask. Take the gradiant tool and set black -> transparacy. Use the graditant tool to fill the upper part in black, so the upper part of the body is free from the lines. (For everyone who don’t work with masks, everything drawn in black gets invisible)

Next to textures I used, you can decide to set the Layer to Soft Light or to Overlay, but here it’s important to set a lower Opacity. I decided to use coffee stain textures since they seem to resemble the textures Kozaki used a lot. I also made them grey so they keep an neutral look and the base color wont get influenced with the orange of the coffee stains. The second texture layer is going to take place only of the upper part of her body. So I used there a mask and the dradiant tool too

Now comes the light. I created a new layer and took a normal hard round brush.Draw white lines at the border of the lineart, the face and the places that could possibly catch some light (tbh it’s hard for me to explain where exactly;;) 

Now we get to the shading part: I created a new layer and set it to the Multiply mode. With the color shown below I shaded it in a cell shading style. Like in every shadin it’s important to have in mind where the light takes it place. After shading it we create another layer over the shading layer and set it into it’s clipping mask (19% opacity in my case). Now I use my custom brush again to do the lines again but this time the lines have to be diagonal. (For those who might not know: Clipping the line layer to the shading layer makes the lines only visible where I shade)

I created 2 other layers. In one of them we use the gradiant tool again and shade it a little on one half of the body. In the other layer we correct some lightning by putting some light effect with a white color and a texture brush

In the last layer we put some light on her eyes and gem/jewelry’s and that’s how I did it
