I had this illustration in mind for a long time ! Painting was quite natural ! it felt great Plus the rough version I like !
hi, sorry if this is a dumb question but - the (beautiful) spirited away chihiro painting you did a while ago that was titled "when i was young i fell into a river"... can i ask where that line is from ? honestly it's one of those phrases that's been sticking in my brain for a long time and i'm just sooooo curious abt what it's referencing? sorry to bother you!! ♡
Hey ! that's a nice question ! In the french version of Spirited Away, Chihiro doesn't say "I drop my shoe in a river, when I leaned to retrieve it I fell", she says "What Im about to tell you I don't really remember, my mom told me about it. When I was young I fell into a river. Time passed, They built buildings on top of it" (same as in the japanese version) before telling Haku his real name ! The fact that we understand that she fell trying to get her shoe back with simply the shot of the shoe drifting away in the water struck me ! (i was quite young maybe 10 or 11) I hope it answered your question ! (and that my english is ok !) have a nice day !
Thank yall for 50k here !! Damn people who said tumblr is dying are wrong !

i just came across your gouache studies!! What brand/kind of paint do you use?? I struggled a lot with mine and wonder if its just what I’m using or if i have to beef up and learn.
I started with Linel gouaches and then moved to Winsor & Newton ! very higly pigmented, so easier to layer them :) Of course, brand don't do everything, but it can change a lot still !
