Make sure to listen for Yashiro’s decision moment when he hesitates, sighs, and presses Doumeki’s floor in the hospital. He was going to see him and talk to him until he saw his family with him in the hallway!!! Why is it every time they get close to a breakthrough there is a gun or Aoi in the way??? Is this why Doumeki ditched his family?? Even he gets it!!!

BANANA FISH - Unofficial Locations Guide: Around Ash & Eiji’s 59th St. Apartment Part 2

B Spot: Columbus Circle

Episode 11: Where Max saw Ash off, presumably after checking apartments after their meal at the Oyster Bar. The entrance to the Columbus Circle subway station located inside the circle and across the crosswalk from the Lincoln Performing Arts Center.

C Spot: Premier Deli

Episode 17: Where Ash felt Blanca a lurkin’. On the corner of 7th Ave & 55th St.

NOTE: In the anime, there’s a donut shop across the street where Bones and Kong were buying donuts. This shop is NOT there in real life! (what’s actually in the spot it should have been is the cafe attached to the Wellington Hotel)

While not an exact match, the donut shop featured in the anime may have been modeled after the Doughnut Plant. There’s no outside counter window, but the logos are very similar! There’s two in NYC and this one’s the one on Grant Street:

BANANA FISH - Unofficial Locations Guide: Around Ash & Eiji’s 59th St. Apartment

A Spot: ONE COLUMBUS PLACE

(So, I’ve been compiling screenshot + photo comparisons of Banana Fish anime locations for months, and have started putting them up on Twitter in the form of a guide. Here’s some compilations!)

One Columbus Place is where the apartment Ash had Max buy for him (as his “fake dad,” using black money stolen from Golzine) is located. This apartment acted as Ash and Eiji’s home and center of operations Episode 12 onwards, with Eiji being confined to the apartment for his own safety.

While most of the most memorable shots of the apartment are from the inside, which is obviously hard to take photos of, here’s me matching the few shots we have seeing the apartment from the outside.

The sample floorplans and inside photos aren’t an exact match to the apartment in the anime, but were taken from the apartment building’s actual site and may still be interesting references.
