r we sharing our tier lists...... here's mine

#if tumblr kils the quality ill see if i can repost bear with me#before someone sends an ask about the 'fuck you egg' tier it's a joke bc he's named after the food which is my nemesis#im fine w people's sonas or urls or whatever named egg cause the association with the person overrules it#but egg warrior cats makes me think directly about cooked eggs and then i get nauseous#also this was made for showing the twitter crowd i dont feel like liking characters like sparkpelt warrants any explanation on here

rip to frecklewish for being a character perpetually stuck in a battle about her exact level of morality and justification/condemnation of her actions any time she or the book she appears in is brought up in any capacity. this is all warrior cats characters who do at least one bad thing but frecklewish is like the epitome of it with a hilariously small amount of screentime to boot and im guilty of also perpetuating it a little bit. rip girl

#like this is all mapleshades vengeance characters but after the dark forest debacle frecklewish is especially loaded with it

i think my opinion on asc so far is that it has enough decent ideas and characters on the surface to spark interest and feel engaging but if you apply literally any modicum of scrutiny or pressure to any of the writing decisions then the entire thing just kind of crumbles and falls apart

#i mean ill take it over an arc like avos that's boring as hell#ill happily take lightleap and frostpaw and curlfeather and etc and hit them with my 'youre better written in my head' beam#but man i am needing to do a lot of mental negotiating with asc in order to enjoy it#like. this isn't cinemasins nitpicking over a kids' book at this point it's breathing a little too heavily next to a house of cards#it's also just a repetition of many of the series' biggest flaws in ways which are not new or even especially egregious just disappointing#like yaaay whup tee doo we've got 'gendered discrepancies in how the characters are written' and 'godless heathen antagonists'#how fun. my favourites (sarcasm)#asc spoilers

it's no secret that i am absolutely not nightheart's fan, but idk where all the "oh maybe he'll go back to using the flame- prefix" theories are coming from cause idk that seems like a pretty shitty way to conclude someone's (already pretty flimsy and shittily constructed, don't get me wrong) arc about choosing their own identity instead of one put upon them by others

#wind spoilers#i mean not really even remotely spoilers LOL i've been seeing this posed since book 2. just tagging just in case#the only way i can really see flameheart 2.0 coming to fruition is if they kill off sparkpelt for his character development#and i would fucking HATE that after how they wrote her in sky. most miserable disservice to a character ever#to a lot of people nightheart is a character about forging your own identity and coming to be accepted and respected for it#so if they kill sparkpelt to walk back his arc literally everybody loses

not a serious issue or anything whatsoever but i love how in the "grey cats blue eyes" challenge, because cinderpelt is being put against three cats that people tend to draw really lean, we are seeing an influx of cinderpelt designs that draw her fluffy and/or fat which is an arbitrary fanon design hill ill always die on. this is how we win

#ftr in case anyone reads into this in bad faith it is primarily because i am chubby and that is my favourite character#it's not anything to do with her disability and i'm not saying designs where she's skinny are bad. ok? ok.#also bc a lot of fanon historically tends to make the female characters really skinny unless they're yellowfang or 'big and motherly'

u know what, sure, i've got my issues with feathertail's characterisation in A Shadow In Riverclan (specifically in regards to how they wrote her relationship with sasha) but honestly big up to her for breaking free of the "shallow dead love interest" box she was sitting in fanon-wise before that. im glad that a lot of people's first impression of feathertail is now about her trauma her and trust issues from that book rather than just about crowfeather. not because female characters with romance centric arcs are worth less obviously, but because warrior cats has such a deficit of major female characters that are not heavily associated with romance and/or motherhood that knocking one halfway off the list is, to some extent, a tiny little victory

#i fear the exact opposite of this would happen to cinderpelt if they ever picked up her pov for a book. it would be ALL about firestar#and they also went the opposite angle from this when writing leopardstar's se by giving her boyfriend drama and a son#i think mousefur is the only female character confidently permanently immune to Heterosexual Romance beam#and that was bc everybody in her age range died before they could pair her up and she got hit w the Xenophobic Grandma beam instead#mothwing is immune too actually but that's just bc before she became an old lady there were 0 suitable relevant characters in riverclan#and leafpool was already covering the medcat forbidden romance line

funny thing about cinderholly that i don't think i've ever seen brought up is that they both have a literal ghost they have a very complicated relationship with (cinderpelt and fallen leaves)

#i had a map idea once about it that was very silly and ooc where their ghosts were singing to them like 'haha go get that girl'#cinderpelt would do that but fallen leaves would NOT fucking do that it's like the absolute antithesis of what he would do#not because he's homophobic to be clear but because he does Not want to be left alone in those fucking tunnels

been going insane lately over remembering about leafpool hiding hollyleaf's fur lately

leafpool covered up for hollyleaf's murder, hollyleaf's own codebreaking, with horror but with barely a moment of hesitation or regret. she later confronts hollyleaf about it calmly, with an open mind and the assurance of secrecy, just desperate to understand why. so that being paralleled against HOLLYLEAF'S reaction to finding out about LEAFPOOL'S crimes is just...... uuuaghhhhhh god it's so tragic. she sacrificed everything for those kids and won back nothing for it

#this is not really a hollyleaf hate post she's a character who (if messily written and often heavily mischaracterised) i think is very fun#but a lot of that stems from how absolutely horrible she is to leafpool who has given her nothing but care and patience her whole life#leafpool loves hollyleaf so so much and hollyleaf sees her as this despicable symbol of everything wrong and uncontrollable in her life
