hello everyone! i was formerly @espanhois but have decided to remake just because i could really use a fresh start right now. here’s a bit about me:

  • currently living in spain
  • from the us, have also lived in ecuador
  • last semester of undergrad, studying spanish and portuguese
  • starting my phd in the fall (hispanic studies)
  • also interested in quechua, italian, and catalan

the main purpose of this blog is to:

  • help me refine my skills in communicating what i’ve learned to another audience who isn’t as familiar with the topics i study
  • track my progress in language learning
  • document my stay in spain and my future endeavors
  • keep in touch with all the beautiful people i’ve met on this site
  • give me a space for book reviews and random literature related diatribes (god knows i need it)

feel free to ask me anything about:

  • spanish & portuguese grammar or vocab help
  • latin american literature
  • my experience in spain and in ecuador
  • my process for applying to grad school
  • anything related to undergrad or the us higher education system

this is perfect because i'm actually on my third cup of coffee for the day -- i am very bad at saying no to the question '¿te apetece un café?

i think my café would be more of a brunch vibe but not like a super expensive one. i would want it to have the vibe of my grandma's kitchen and as such i'd be making like southern us foods, biscuits and gravy is the first dish that comes to mind. and of course different pies! influencers would prolly come to be like omg we are sooo rustic. and i would not care one bit
