Every few days I get stuck in tictok discourse and Call me crazy but I think it’s a double edged sword when we criticize women for enjoying cute childish things/makeup styles/ pastel clothing and call it pandering to p*edophiles.

You know what my nephews are into at the ages of 6 and 9? Minecraft and football and cars. You know what my 30 year old brother is into? Minecraft and football and cars. No one thinks it’s weird when men have a life long obsession with the same things they liked as children.

Peoples interests don’t just change when they get older, you like what you like And I like soft and cute and cuddly things. I find it interesting that we criticize women for liking the same things that they enjoy as they get older and don’t do the same for men.

I think it boils down to the fact that you can’t escape sexualization as a woman no matter how old or young you are. You might as well enjoy what you enjoy because you won’t escape it no matter how hard you try.

yall realize you can criticize religion without like. making fun of people for having things that are sacred and holy to them right.

not to be that guy but theres a huge difference between "this religion and it's practitioners has aspects that warrant criticism" and "lmao look at them believing in things" . its one thing to call out the toxicity and spread of dangerous information in, as an example, pagan communities. it is an entirely separate thing to make fun of pagans for what they find sacred and important to their lives, even if it doesnt make sense to you.

As the staff post about ad-free tumblr continues to get thousands of notes telling staff to fuck off in the tags, I wanna remind you that this website's days are numbered. Tumblr is still unprofitable and by some modern-day miracle none of its acquiring companies pulled the plug on this money pit. But it will happen if it continues its trajectory.

Whether you like it or not, Tumblr needs to make money off you somehow in order to stay up. It either serves ads or asks for money to use it. This has been a paradigm on the web longer than many of you have been alive. It's Tumblr's job to make money right now because it's well past its grace period of being a black hole for cash. This has actually always been Tumblr's job, since it is a corporation, but that's capitalism for ya.

If you want Tumblr to be here for free and you want to continue to use it, you do yourself a disservice by opposing any changes Tumblr makes in order to pay for its costs. When this site finally goes belly-up then you're gonna be Tumblr-less until whatever startup takes its place and the cycle repeats itself.

If you think it should just ask for donations Wikipedia-style, remember that if and when that happens, there will be users repeating the same tired bullshit about giving Tumblr any money.
