In honor of Ashley's birthday, here are some of my favorite things from the Look Back Diaries, which everyone who has ever even remotely enjoyed the Lizzie Bennet Diaries should absolutely watch (here)

  • the return of the plaid shirt
  • "Theme Song!"
  • hearing from a variety of guests with different perspectives
  • cast members going "I remember that outfit!"
  • the disclaimer that we did not hallucinate the Lizzie Bennet Diaries
  • everybody complimenting each other
  • our friend the glitch
  • Ashley not showing up at the beginning of episode 15, and leaving the video when Lizzie storms out in episode 37
  • the Episode 60 trolling
  • all of the tea in the epilogues
  • the extremely compelling way Ashley articulates her thoughts and feelings
  • the invention and evolution of the mind pocket
  • "rusty water colored memories"
  • watching each episode twice: once on youtube and once on patreon
  • the way the whole journey made me happy and sad and angry and proud and other complicated conflicting feelings that I don't know how to name but it was a lot, but like, in a good way?

Anyway the Look Back Diaries is amazing, and I am so grateful for all the work Ashley put into it, and I need more people to watch it!

"Walkable city" is not "City where to have to walk everywhere."

"Walkable city" is.

  1. Sidewalks big enough to fit you, your stroller, your wheelchair, your guide dog, or anything else you need when you're getting from one place to another.
  2. Safe crosswalks frequent enough so you don't need to walk in traffic.
  3. Bike lanes to keep bikes out of foot traffic and car traffic.
  4. Accessible and affordable public transit.
  5. Cities where the essentials are close enough you can travel on foot (or in wheelchair)
  6. Cities where it's reasonable to be able to get from point a to point b without requiring you, yourself, to drive

People get so caught up in the "Walkable" part of the term and like to spout "Walkable cities are abelist because not everyone can walk".

Bitch. The modern city structure is abelist because not everyone can drive. And classist because not everyone can afford a car and it's pretty damn impossible to get a job if you don't have a car.

Walkable cities are cities where people can reasonably get from pointA to pointB without requiring a motor vehicle.

"But fae. Disabled people have issues using the paths in modern cities." Bitch abled people can barely use the paths in modern cities. That's kind of the fucking problem.

Also walkable cities have fucking benches. Not only for disabled people. But sometimes you just twist your ankle and need to sit for a moment.

"Put fae. If you have benches, homeless people will sleep on them."

Then get fucking housing for the homeless. Problem solved. They'll sleep in their nice warm homes instead of on the benches.

I honestly think the scenes of greatest intimacy in Austen are those moments of unspoken solidarity between people when they have to deal with a difficult person: Emma and Mr. Knightley handling the crisis of snow at Christmas, Darcy and Elizabeth curtailing Caroline Bingley's bitchiness to protect Georgiana in the music room, Wentworth seeing the child clinging to Anne's neck and wordlessly removing him, Edmund and Fanny dancing silently together at the end of a long ball, just enjoying being introverts together away from the Crawfords, Col. Brandon fetching Mrs. Dashwood because she would be of comfort to Marianne and Elinor...

I get that there are reasons people may have funded Cinderella's Castle and not Tinlightenment/why Cinderella's Castle got funded quicker than Tinlightenment, but I do not think you guys saying that understand JUST HOW BIG of a difference this was.

Cinderella's Castle fund goal was $250K, Tinlightenment fund goal was $200K and they raised $220K in total.

Tinlightenment raised their goal amount just before the final day of the kickstarter campaign, their campaign lasted a month. Cinderella's Castle got funded in a little less than 30 hours.

CINDERELLA'S CASTLE RASIED MORE MONEY IN 30 HOURS THAN TINLIGHTENMENT DID AN ENTIRE FUCKING MONTH. I can not understate how insane that is!

I have noticed in the past couple years people seem to only care about Hatchetfield, and it's okay to love Hatchetfield, I absolutely love Hatchetfield, it is my favorite of all StarCanWrecked productions, I became a fan because of Hatchetfield. But I remember during the first year of covid that there was so much love for EVERYTHING starkid, tcb and shipwrecked. But then after that first year it seems people only care for Hatchetfield.

Now I'm really so excited that so many people are excited for Cinderella's Castle, that's great!! I'm glad we are giving love to more stuff. But why are we only giving all our love to Cinderella's Castle? Why couldn't we give more love to the other productions going on? Hardly anyone talks about vhs christmas carols. Nobody talks about how the grunch cribbed Christmas. "but those are holiday things" ok sure but still hardly anyone was talking about grunch when it was actually coming out. Hardly anyone has been talk the case of the Greater Gatsby as that's been coming out and fear bc of its break even less people will talk about when it returns. In the tin can bros fandom it feels like I never see love anything except spies are forever really. The entire pulp musicals fandom seems to be just like 5 people.

I am begging fans who have seen more than just Hatchetfield to give love to more than just Hatchetfield. Please. You have seen how amazing all of this stuff we get to watch is. Go give it some love. Make some posts about it. I have some old fans/fans who have seen more than just Hatchetfield complain about fans who have just seen Hatchetfield and if you really think that then WHERE is your love for other stuff? You don't even have to make art or fanfic, you can just reblog stuff!

I am begging fans that have only seen Hatchetfield to at least TRY to watch something outside of it, you might like a lot of stuff, you just have to start with trying to find something that sounds appealing to you. You like spooky towns? Go check out wayward guide, solve it squad and headless. You just like musicals? Well starkid and tcb have many. Maybe you like short films. Maybe you like a certain franchise starkid has parodied. It is ok if you end up just liking Hatchetfield but I do think you should give other things its a try.

I know I'm probably coming off as rude and I'm sorry. And you don't have to go a show love for or watch anything outside of Hatchetfield if you don't want to. I just wish that people would. And I am frustrated that no one seems to care about 90% of the amazing stuff that has been made.

the older i get and the closer i am to reaching 30, the more the people around me try to deny me my age. it’s a constant ‘oh you’re just turning 29 again teehee 🤭’ or ‘dont tell your SO that, he’ll leave you for a younger model 😉’ and i just???? hate it?????????

i spent my entire teenaged years fighting for my life. i crawled through the deepest pits of my depression to cling to the promise of a life beyond that pain. i was so convinced that i was going to die young, that i would never see the grace of my age starting with a 2, let alone 3.

so im going to turn 30, and there’s not a damn thing anyone can do to stop me from loving it.

this post was up for like five minutes and already im being told how wrong i am

fuck you, you can kiss my 30 year old ass

You know what? I needed to read this today

realizing i’m aro has made me really come to reckon with the fact that a lot of you guys are seriously incapable of contextualizing a relationship as meaningful unless it has some conventional romantic lens applied to it. just saying…!

there really is no better example of how engrained this is to some of you than the times this type of mindset has been applied onto Me directly in my time on this website. like multiple times now i’ve described like a funny thing that happened in a conversation with me and a friend that have a really close bond or just like A Silly Thing My Friend Did only to get hundreds of people in the notes like “yeah op….? erm… i think your friend has a crush on you🤣” or “they’re in love to me🥰” or “this reminds me of two characters i ship🤓” or “op ask your friend out😁” “this is sooo the start of a romcom” like ohhh my god. how desperate are you for everything to align with your perspective that you feel the need to do this to some random person you’ve never met. what do you get out of it? out of being invasive and creepy and weird to real life people. you all claim to be done with being against aro and ace people and yet you Let It Linger !!!!!!!!
