I hope you don’t mind, but I slowed the gif down because that is a FANTASTIC move.

this is the kind of shit that gets described as “quickly disarmed him” in writing and truly doesn’t do it justice

important action and combat scenes are great moments to slow the narrative pace, to stretch the narrative with relevant description, movement, and internal conflict - not all the time, of course (action should usually be tightly written), but in pivotal scenes of character change, growth, and loss

I often underestimate how old Simon is

I mean, sitting next to Simon is equivalent to sitting next to this guy in modern days standards

Imagine sitting next to this guy to cheer him up while he chugs a drink, then starts rambling about his dead wife and not being able blend in like the rest of the modern society

Now I get why Finn was confused

Roman: Hey Jan, what’s your type?

Janus: In guys?

Roman: Yeah

Janus: *gives him a long look* Handsome, dumb, a little egotistical, muscular, good with a sword, good dresser, caring to a fault, romantic, slays monsters in the imagination…

Roman: Wow, that’s really specific, is it someone I know?

Janus: *sigh* Did I mention ‘dumb’?

Roman: Yeah

Janus: Alright, just checking

*later*

Roman: Oh my god, Janus has a crush on Logan?!?

Virgil: He meant you, you idiot!

the ministry of health reports 12700 palestinians dead, 5350 of which are children—and that’s only as of november 20. we all know israel hasn’t slowed down its bombardments since then. at least 1.8 palestinians are displaced, currently residing in unrwa shelters, hospitals, public buildings, tents, or straight up homeless. the access to basic necessities such as water and electricity are severely limited. this has been catastrophic for millions of palestinians, most of whom are living in constant anxiety of getting martyred (literal children included). please consider donating, however little it may be, to organizations on the ground trying to bring humanitarian aid to gaza. the palestine children’s relief fund is a good place to start.

At Least 13 Palestinian writers have been killed by Israel since October 7

In the last Palestinian poem I shared, the speaker contemplates the very real possibility that they’ll be murdered — this is a subject that has cropped up over and over as I read through Palestinian poems. These poets know that life under occupation is always tenuous, and especially so for anyone who dares to speak up against the occupying force like they do in their poetry.

Professor Refaat Alareer’s poem “If I Must Die,” which has been read all over and translated into multiple languages since his death by Israeli airstrike in December, is one example that I highly recommend you look up if you haven’t heard it yet. (For instance, here it is set to haunting music.)

According to LitHub, Israel has killed at least 13 Palestinian poets and writers since October 7; and in the seven or so decades before then, countless others were targeted for arrest or death — so it makes sense that one’s own death a common topic in Palestinian writing.

But God, it breaks my heart. Things should not be this way! People whose only weapon is a pen should not fear assassination. People just trying to live should not fear death by bombing or torture.

I’ll be sharing some Palestinian poems on this theme in the next few days. In the meantime, here’s a piece of writing by Heba Abu Nada, who died in an Israeli airstrike in October. This is one of the last social media posts she made before she was killed:

"Each of us in Gaza is either witness to or martyr for liberation. Each is waiting to see which of the two they’ll become up there with God. We have already started building a new city in Heaven. Doctors without patients. No one bleeds. Teachers in uncrowded classrooms. No yelling at students. New families without pain or sorrow. Journalists writing up and taking photos of eternal love. They’re all from Gaza. In Heaven, the new Gaza is free of siege. It is taking shape now.”

I pray Heba Abu Nada is in peace in that heavenly Gaza now. But here and now, it is our sacred task to do everything we can to end Gaza’s hell on earth.

No more dead poets. No more elders and children killed. Palestine must be free.

Why would people indigenous to ‘their land’ bomb, release toxic chemicals and kill ‘their land’?

Why are they desperately searching for approval that this is ‘their land’ while the Palestinians are comfortable in knowing that this is their home and it has been for an uncountable amount of time.

Why should they have to conform to a two state solution when they have been kept in a prison in their own home? This land belongs to them they shouldn’t have to pay the price for settlers wanting a safe haven. They should’ve have come with peace not war.

Palestine belongs to the Palestinians no matter which way you look at it or how hard you try to erase it.

I learned late yesterday theres a worldwide protest. Regardless, I want to come on here and say I will not be posting besides this here until the protest is over.

Free Palestine. The innocent people of Palestine never deserved the terror they're going through and have been for decades. Even if you cant donate like me, please spread awareness during this week.

i think it's kinda ridiculous that celebrities are speaking for the war in ukraine (which is horrible that innocent people are dying, i know) but i see all the time people from there on tiktok going to restaurants and clubs like everything is normal.

meanwhile, the celebrities that speak for palestine are getting fired and silenced, and others will just ignore the issue to not have to face any backlash from fans (or media).

there's no place in palestine where they are safe and fine enough to keep living a normal life and go to restaurants and clubs. the double (and white) standard is so crazy to me.

“The strikes came such short notice:/“ oh my bad gang let us just tell them stop stop killing people so we can warn you in advance what’s going to happen. Even if you haven’t been participating since day one, there’s still four more days for you to participate, additionally you don’t have to participate in every single one of the strikes, you just have to participate in anyway that you can. It’s sounding like excuses.

Additionally if you do not know what strikes I’m referring to, here. There’s still time to become apart of this.

A Palestinian child's plans after the war

She wrote

1) 30 days delivery

2) watch the TV and stay up and eat all that I want

3) go wherever I want

4) talk with my father for hours everyday

5) buy a lot of cute clothes

6) travel insha'Allah and see my dad

7) convince my dad to travel to uncle Mostafa and uncle Mohammed

8) go out of gaza and go to Switzerland

In the end she wrote:

* insha'Allah my plans happen*

Her name was sila and she will never see those plans achieved because she was killed like many PALESTINIAN children .

End this genocide

And free Palestine 🇵🇸🇵🇸
