Moralistic Narcissism

So somatic narcissism and cerebral narcissism are established categories, but consider: one way to get self-esteem supply is to be More Moral. I think this is a useful category of narcissism which is very under-recognized.

Narcissism is largely support beams for injured self-esteem. Something you can always lean on to feel good about yourself no matter how much the world hits you with hurtful judgment, shame, embarrassment, ostracism, and so on. Something that lets you reliably do ego-saving or face-saving redirects like "whatever, I'm still better", ideally while adding "in every way that matters".

Somatic narcissism does that by taking pride in bodily or physical things. Cerebral narcissism does that by taking pride in mental things. Moralistic narcissism does that by taking pride in things highly esteemed as moral - honesty, religious piety, altruism, being virtuous, unmasking bad people, persecuting evil, and so on.

I think a whole lot of narcissism goes unnoticed because it looks like moral righteousness, zeal, or extremism aligned with widely held values.

[ID: I’ve been thinking about God which in turn means I’ve been thinking about You.

I’ve been thinking I would like to kill him. I would like to see the way his muscles move, I would have him flayed. Open and vulnerable like I must be to him. I think I would like to swallow him up and spit his bird-like frail little bones. I think I would like to fuck him, I think I would like to make him cry.

I think I would love to love him. I think I would love it if he loved me. /end ID]

Trauma boy is telling him that he isn't gay, even though they have been fucking, kissing and killing people for months

In all seriousness, Í prefer the reading of heterosexual Sangwoo, as opposed to the fanon "nah he is just in denial" statement. He doesn't find Bum sexually or romantically attractive but he still feels drawn to him, because he literally has never experienced something like he had with him. No friendship or sexual relationship he ever had is comparable to the inevitable bond he and Bum share. They end up living together, caring for each other, killing together, protecting each other, and have given each other that what they thought the other needed. Reassurance, understanding, acceptance, companisonship, love, physical touch and yes, even sex, so that the other may stay with them.

So yes, Sangwoo may identify as straight but still has sex with Bum because he fears abandonment and this is his unique way of trying to preserve what he has aquired; this strange stability and bond with Bum.

i cant believe its one piece of all anime that gets to break the live action adaptation curse. this is so funny. the most unadaptationable anime is the one that. fucking . makes it. my face hurts from laughing and smiling too much. everyone did their damn thing. whatever criticism we lob at this thing doesn't fucking matter anymore. people dont get it. but i do. the goal of a live action adaptation, first and foremost, is to make me, specifically, fall in love with the story and characters all over again. and i did.

saw a one piece live action character impressions post that pegged luffy as having daddy issues which is hilarious to me because luffy has, like, the opposite of daddy issues. he has daddy solutions. if you hang out with luffy long enough, your father-related angst starts to resolve. this has happened to multiple characters.
