What if when Tyler says…

“We’ve been here the whole time, you were asleep. Time to wake up.”

He’s telling us this not in a literal sense but a figurative one. I think dema represents our depression, anxiety and/or any other mental disorder so when he said “we’ve been here the whole time” he means that we spent way to much time dealing with these things and by saying “you were asleep” he means that we have gotten used to living this way and by saying “Time to wake up” he’s telling us it’s time to get up and fight. Time for us to realize that we can’t be living the way we have been dealing with our mental health. Time for us to get up and finally defeat our demons (Dema)

But that’s just my interpretation, I could be totally wrong.
