Tips That Can Save Your Kid’s Life.

THIS IS IMPORTANT

When I was a child, from the time I was about four and could understand things, my mom told me and my brother that we should have a secret word. That way, if we were ever in trouble or felt unsafe and we didn’t want the people around us to know we needed her to come get us, we could let her know. So she let us pick the word and my brother and I chose the phrase “peanut butter cups.” (I’m happy to share the phrase now since both my brother and I are adults now).

I used the phrase twice in my life. Once, I was at a friends house when I eight years old. Her dad got really drunk and was throwing things against the wall. I was really scared and I didn’t want to draw attention to myself on the phone when I called my mom to come get me because I didn’t know if he would get more violent if I asked her to come get me. So I called her and was calm and after a couple minutes I asked “Hey mommy, did you get me those peanut butter cups from the store?” And she said “I’ll be right there.” And she came and got me within minutes.

Second, I was a teenager spending the night at a friends house. Her brother and dad were drinking and they started talking about things that made me uncomfortable - ie: what they liked to do to women. My friend didn’t seem perturbed and said that was normal for them and that I shouldn’t worry. But I was worried because they were really drunk and I was 15 and the only ‘woman’ around that wasn’t related to them. I went in my friends room, told her I needed to call my mom and say goodnight. Before I hung up with her I asked “Next time we go to the store, can we get some peanut butters cups? I’ve been craving them.” And she came and got me, just like that.

Two incidents, one as a young child, one years later as a teen. Don’t discredit this stuff, it fucking works. My brother used it a few times too. Let your child pick the word and no never, ever, ever, ever get mad at them for using it no matter what it is.

DO NOT SCROLL PAST THAT.

Off topic, but very important! I was taught to yell “this is not my mom/dad.” A young kid freaking out in public is likely to be ignored out of embarrassment, but a kid telling you right out that they don’t know who is messing with them? That will turn heads.

Reblog this.💯🗣💋

I feel like this should be said too if you see a child yelling things like “this isn’t my mum, or I don’t know you” or something don’t ignore them! This system relies on people actually helping the child! It dosent matter how rude you’ll seem or how anxious you are you could be saving a child’s life!

Even if you just ask the child “Do you know this person” if the adult butt’s in make sure to ASK THE CHILD! Even a shy kid will tell you they don’t know this person or just met them or something!

DON’T IGNORE THE SIGNS!

ALWAYS REBLOG

VERY IMPORTANT YOU BETTER NOT SCROLL

YES THIS IS SO IMPORTANT

“They took our land, they imprisoned our queen, they banned our language, they forcibly made us a colony of the United States. America says they are democratic, that is a lie! They have never been democratic with Native people! They have never been democratic with Indians! They have never been democratic with Hawaiians!”

It has come to my attention that there are people that don't know about the horrors of residential schools and why we're canceling the fourth of july so I'll explain to the best of my ability.

Residential schools were institutions in which native children were held captive under the guise of educating them. These children were stolen away from their families and the goal was to "kill the indian, save the man" by eradicating native culture from these children's lives. They were forced to cut their hair, they were not allowed to speak in their native tongue nor leave to see their families. They were kept in poor living conditions conducive to illness and were punished harshly. Many children died at residential schools and their culture was stolen from them. It wasn't until 1996 when the last residential school was closed.

Earlier this year a mass grave was found on the grounds of kamloops residential school, 215 bodies were discovered, some of the children as young as three. These children were stolen from their homes and never returned. There has been a call for residential schools to be searched and the children lost to residential schools to be mourned. This is happening in both canada and the united states and protests will be held on canada day and the fourth of july. To show your support you can wear orange and spread awareness.

If you can, find a protest near you and let these children's voices be heard. Thousands of innocent children were kidnapped and killed then thrown into unmarked graves. Their lives must be honored and mourned.

Remember that the fourth of july did not mark freedom for everyone.

When i mention that im working on preserving a native language with only 7 speakers, all of whom are elderly, people are so suprised.

"If its so important to their culture, how could they just not pass it in to their children?" They ask

This. This is why. The atrocities that are residental schools are why.

If you’re European, in a couple of weeks you will be denied any and all access to fandom contents on Tumblr and everywhere else on the internet. Here’s why.

On June, 20th the JURI of European Parliament approved of the articles 11 and 13 of the new Copyright Law. These articles are also known as the “Link Tax” and the “Censorship Machines” articles.

Articles 13 in particular forces every internet platform to filter all the contents we upload online, ending once and for all the fandom culture. Which means you won’t be able to upload any type of fandom works like fan arts, fan fictions, gif sets from your favourite films and series, edits, because it’s all copyrighted material. And you won’t also be able to share, enjoy or download other’s contents, because the use of links will be completely restricted.

But not everything’s lost yet. There’s another round of voting scheduled for the early days of July.

What you can do now to save our internet, is to share these informations with all of your family members and friends, and to ask to your MEP (the members of the European Parliament from your country) to vote NO at the next round, to vote against articles 11 and 13.

Here you can find more news and all the details to contact your MEP:

Also, sign and share this petition:

We have just a couple of weeks to stop this complete madness, don’t let them dictating the way we enjoy our internet.
