Summary: Altea has begun the painful, precarious process of treaty negotiations with the Galra Empire. Prince Alfor considers the negotiations long overdue, but he’s been completely left out of the talks. He is next in line for the throne, and he longs for peace as much as any Altean. Alfor wants to do whatever is necessary to bring the war to an end. Possibly, he should sit back and do as he's told—but Alfor isn't that kind of prince.

Your Hand in Mine [Zarkon Zine Preview]

Here's a preview for one of my fics in Long Live the Emperor ( @zarkonzine ), which will be available to download, free of charge, on Feb 1. There is no Zarkon in this preview, but trust me, he’s in the story!

"Something's there," said Keith.

Regris ran another quick scan, then checked and double-checked the console. "You think? No readings."

Keith shook his head. "No, which is why I think there's something there."

Regris reflected on this, before nodding. "I see what you mean."              

It wasn't nothing that had brought them there. They had detected faint signals indicating Galra activity in this quadrant. There was no known reason for the Empire to send ships through this region. There were no charted Galra installations or settlements within this star system. The orange-red star at its center reigned over seven seemingly uninhabited planets.

Shiro decides to restart the hologram of Sendak, to see if that can help him put old ghosts to rest. The result of his experiment is completely unexpected. And soon becomes entirely too complicated.

Sendak sketches! The first is just Sendak surrounded by stars, as he should be. The second is Film Critic Sendak complaining to his husband (from my ridiculous Sendak Review AU). Love him. Still taking digital doodle requests!

Summary: A Galra "parent of honor" takes on the task of providing a child with armor and weapons, throughout their childhood. When the armor and weapons are at last assembled, and the child is old enough to begin training, a solemn ritual takes place.This may not be a tradition among Alteans, but Zarkon believed it was necessary that he fulfill that role for Alfor's daughter.
