I want a spn reboot with no angels.

I read a tweet today of a Destiel shipper saying what a tragedy it is that a “beautiful queer love story like Dean and Castiel wasn’t allowed to be talked about or acknowledged.”

Do those type of shippers, I wouldn’t call this specific person a heller though, really not understand why?

Destiel is, at the very best of times, a one sided love story IF you choose to interpret Castiel telling Dean he loved him as romantic. I do not, personally. Otherwise he would have said I’m *in* love with you. To me there’s a big difference. Especially with wording when it’s supposed to be the Big Confession™️. Plus I’m real tired of these Hellers telling me I’m homophobic with 0 evidence to back that claim up other than I pissed them off because I won’t back their version of Supernatural rather than actual canon.

Anyway, back to the original point. Destiel wasn’t a “banned topic” at first. It wasn’t until a couple years into its popularity that people (fans, cast, writers) started to stop talking about the ship at large. When the Destiel shippers really started to get that it was never going to happen. Why? Because they started harassing, bullying and telling people who didn’t ship it to go off themselves. Thus the term “desti-heller” showed up. There is a difference between a heller and your normal Destiel shipper. That harassment by the hellers got INTENSE. I remember when they went after Samantha Smith on Twitter.

Why would anyone want to talk about the ship when it’s shippers would malignly attack you when you wouldn’t support their narrative? To act like it’s just homophobia that prevented Destiel from being canon is hysterical to me. Dean was not/is not gay or bi-sexual. Castiel really can’t be defined by terms such as gay, straight, bi-sexual etc because he’s not human. He operates outside the boxes of human sexuality. Hell, the only reason we call him “him” is because Jimmy Novak is a man.

Personally I think Castiel’s story is beautiful as it comes full circle. When we first meet him he doesn’t care about The Winchesters or humanity. It ends with him telling a human he loves him. With him viewing The Winchesters as his family. More so than his angel siblings ever were to him. More so than God ever was to him. It ends with him being together with his “son” that he shares with Sam and Dean. Yes, Dean AND Sam. I know the hellers love to cut Sam out of everything to make it the Dean and Cas show. Don’t get me started on the latest discourse about who knows Dean better: Sam or Castiel. If you’re saying Castiel for that one then I really don’t know what show you’re watching.

what can i say about supernatural to make my boyfriend want to continue watching it???? we started watching probably over two years ago and we’re only in season 3. i can only bait him with the promise of the gay angel so many times ……..

You answered your own question. There is no gay angel and Castiel is irrelevant at best, at worse does not appeal to most people.

How about stop using non-canon fake ships at bait and focus on what the show is really about: adventure of two monster-hunting brothers.

I love Sam’s expression when he see the new heaven for the first time…

The Supernatural finale made the previous 15 seasons more meaningful and I can rewatch them knowing there is a beautiful ending for Sam and Dean in their earned eternal peace together. Not many series finale can do that for their fans, for this I am very grateful for this near-perfect SPN finale.

Sam and Dean passed away on their own terms: Dean on a hunt and be the first to go before Sam, and Sam in his bed with his son at his side. They died free, and are eternally free and at peace. This time death was not a punishment, Dean woke up in a beautiful, peaceful Heaven, knowing all his loved ones were there and he could see them anytime.  Then Sam honored Dean’s dying wish for him to live a full and happy life and he carry on the on the Winchester legacy.

It’s just so fitting and perfect that Supernatural started with baby Sam assaulted in his crib and his room destroyed in a fire and the Winchesters driven out of the house, to Supernatural ending with old Sam dying peacefully at his house in his bed with his son at his side. I agree with this analysis that had Sam died before experiencing normal life with his own family, his soul wouldn’t be whole and may even make him incompatible with Dean in heaven.  It makes me very irrationally happy that Sam and Dean reunite in heaven as their own persons but still very much the halves of one soul.

I'm voting Wincest mainly because the Destiel fandom are so toxic and contantly put out death threats and slanders against the actors. I've NEVER seen Wincest shippers do the same.

These polls need circulation outside of the Destiel bubble.

First, there is no "assuming we accept the finale as canon" BS--the finale IS canon, period. It's what aired onscreen, which is the basic definition of canon (i.e. no subtext, coding, or interpretation needed). You don't have to like the finale, but that doesn't change the fact that it's canon.

Second, Sam and Dean spent 15 seasons living together, and even after defeating Chuck, they chose to continue doing so despite no more disasters forcing them to stay together. After Dean's death, Sam and Dean both spent their time apart clearly missing each other, and the whole damn show ended with their happy reunion in Heaven--all with little to no mention of anyone else. After all that, how does it make sense that they wouldn't want to spend the rest of eternity together, just as they did in life??

People complaining about Ryan Gosling getting nominated are chronically online.

He is a good actor, yes Margot is amazing but honestly her acting didn't stand out much to me in that movie (ironically she WAS generic barbie).

Ken was just a funny little goof ball and actual had character despite being all around generic, Ryan just perfected the role.

This isn't misogyny because I fucking love Margot Robbie and think she's a wonderful actress. Just because someone is a lead, doesn't always mean they'll get nominated.

If you want an example of this happening between two men then Dean Winchester basically became the main character of Supernatural because Jensen Ackles just happens to put more character into Dean than Jared did with Sam.

You can tell when someone puts themselves in a character, that makes the roles better.

Um this doesn't make any sense. Dean didn't become the "main character" because he "put more character into Dean." What does that even mean? The main character is the main character. Who the main character is doesn't change because you decide you like the characterization of one over the other. May I also add, that's how the characters were WRITTEN. Sam is supposed to be a more serious, straight laced character. He is the one going through the hero journey. Dean just doesn't go through any growth the way Sam does. He in fact hardly changes through the whole series.

OP had me until she dragged Dean Winchester into it lol. Ken had an actual character arc and he wasn't the same character at the start of the movie, plus he had his own cast of supporting characters that revolved around him and not Barbie.

But Dean is essentially the same character from season 1 to season 15, meaning he had limited character arc/development. He didn't have his own cast of supporting characters, and Castiel doesn't count because he functioned more as a plot device to cause trouble for the Winchester brothers. Sure Dean is hella a fun character, but so are countless sidekicks characters in endless fictional stories. None of this makes Dean a main character for reasons stated.

Sam + Family Poll

Okay, I have a new poll that follows my Dean + Family poll from yesterday.

While, Dean calls a lot of people family over the years on Supernatural, Sam doesn’t through the “F” word around as often. But, his actions do show that he considers some characters (besides the Winchesters) to be family, too. Also, Dean calls some people family FOR Sam as he uses “we” a lot when describing others in relation to him and Sam.

So, I put the question of family to Tumblr again, but for Sam this time.

(Please note, I will be excluding Bobby because he won by such a huge margin with Dean, so I imagine he’d win by a lot for Sam, too. Also, I’ve removed other characters like Benny snd Crowley who Sam was never really close to.).

I know Dean is a “fan favourite” in some parts, but let’s get some love for Sam, too. Please feel free to elsborate in the tags.
