Today was supposed to be Free Comic Book Day, and in honor of that we're making all digital copies on our gumroad free to download through tomorrow! (just use the code "vagabuds") This is a great chance to check out some of our older issues that are out of print.

Also we highly recommend using the day to support your local comics shop. Several around here offer delivery or curbside services, or have ways to support them online (Clevelanders might want to check out Weird Realms, Superscript, or Carol & John’s )

Today's the day, #quaranzinefest is here! And we'd like to kick off the day by announcing preorders for the 20/20 issue are OPEN!

A bit more about the issue:

This book includes 20 comics about hopeful futures, new growth, and doing our best to do right by ourselves and those around us as we move forward. It features robots, beautiful gardens, a talking rabbit, and so much more. We hope it will be a balm of positivity to help you keep looking ahead during these increasingly uncertain times.

Physical books available on storenvy, digital copies available on gumroad

Includes work by:

Cover and endpage art by @milistjohn

Reminder that 50% of all preorders and sales go directly to the contributors, including digital copies on our gumroad. Everything else goes towards the printing of the book. Preorders end April 22nd after which digital copies will be immediately available. Physical books will be shipped out end of May / beginning of June.

We’ve finally worked our way through all the submissions, and we have to say, we’re pretty excited about this one! We’ll be launching preorders this Saturday, April 4th, just in time for Quaranzine Fest. During this time we will be sharing excerpts from the issue and highlighting some of the contributing artists, so look forward to that!

Also during Quaranzine, 50% of all sales and 20/20 preorders on our storenvy and gumroad will go directly to the contributors of this issue, and this will extend to preorders after Quaranzine through April 22nd when they close. Everything else goes towards the printing of the book.

ALSO also, the good folks of Quaranzine have just introduced some really great virtual talks, demos, and classes taking place on April 5th, check out their page for more details on how to participate.

Lastly huge huge thanks to @milistjohn for the gorgeous cover and endpaper art! Be sure to check out the rest of her work!

In response to so many shows being cancelled this spring, our friends at IS Press are organizing Quaranzine Fest! Description below, you can find more details on their website:

-----

“Quaranzine Fest 2020 ~ a viral safe-space! | APRIL 4th & 5th 2020 | #quaranzinefest

Inoculate against boredom! Self-quarantine is not exciting! Start stockpiling zines before panic buying starts!

Quaranzine Fest is a (cough…) viral concept to connect zine makers and patrons in this turbulent time of social distancing. In the face of Federal Government ineptitude, callousness, and lack of empathy, the DIY community has come together to… not come together. As we work in solidarity to honor the social contract and flatten the curve, many of us in the international zine, art book, and DIY community have been dramatically impacted by the closures of the art book fairs and zine fests where we connect with each other, discover exciting new work, and (for us vendors) make part of our living.

Quaranzine Fest is simple. Post your work on the platform of your choice April 4th and 5th with the hashtag #quaranzinefest – no submission process, no selection process, no fees, no leaders, no volunteers, no building, no table, no limit on vendors, no fire code restrictions, no peanut butter fingers touching your zines.”

Since there are no immediate shows this spring, we figured we’d let everyone take advantage of the social distancing to spend more time on their comics. Deadline has been extended to March 27th, details below!

Reflecting on the coming of the new decade, we know that a lot of things might be looking pretty bleak and more than a little scary. But we think this is also a chance to turn over a new leaf, and that there can be a lot to be excited about too.

And with that, we have a mission for you. We’d like to invite you to try on our brand new Rose-Tinted Crystal Ball Goggles (patent pending), and use your crystal clear vision into the future to tell us what you see. We want your comics about the hopeful future you find there, whether it’s a fictional escape to a distant grand utopia, or an autobiographical account of something small you want to try to do to make your small patch of garden a little better. Or anything in between! As long as you’re looking ahead, with chin held high.

Requirements: - Black & White / Grayscale images, 300 dpi - 8 pages or less - Dimensions: 6.625" x 10.25", (add .125″ on each side for full bleed) - This is an all ages anthology, please keep content at a PG-13 level

Please pay close attention to the above requirements, any submissions that do not adhere to these may not be accepted.

It is not required, but we welcome and even encourage those interested in submitting to send us sketches, work-in-progress shots, or a brief synopsis of your story before moving forward with completing your comic.

Please send final submissions in the form of jpg’s, png’s, or pdf’s along with the title of your comic and your name to vagabondcomiccollective@gmail.com no later than Friday March 27th.

Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns!
