there’s an online mobilisation effort called “blockout 2024”, where people are en masse blocking influencers/celebrities who have been silent so far on palestine to make them lose followers and income. and it’s been making celebrities and streamers start posting links to gofundmes and the PCRF, which is great. But after 7 months of silence, I simply can’t look at many of these creators the same way, and the idea that these people with so much wealth and influence only started caring when something materially forced their hand and affected their social standing should disgust you too.

so accept the meager good these people are doing by posting links, but remind yourself that all of them could’ve been talking about palestine this whole time. sharing resources is truly the bare minimum. remind yourself that your faves aren’t exempt from the criticism attached to attending the met gala because they’re your faves. and never forget how many lives they could’ve saved if they spoke up sooner, and bothered to put any of their own money on the line.

You must understand what 6,800 missing under the rubble means.

It means that the number of dead is actually over 20,000

What if you were a god and I was a massive monster born of abyssal corruption whose very existence in your world was blasphemy but you were kinda into that.

「Ikesen Historivia] Adult men can and will get stuck with their childhood name, sometimes

This is Ikesen-verse so it's fine, and it's for fluff's sake, but actually... in reality a number of Sengoku people had to go by their childhood names even after they get their adult names.

The thing about the Sengoku is, you can't actually call people by their names straight. You can't call Nobunaga with "Nobunaga-sama", that's rude and maybe your life might go bye bye because of it. You have to use "alias names".

(you can apparently use the name in letters, or if the person has a high enough title to be addressed with -kou suffix, but most of the time you don't use personal names like "Nobunaga" straight)

You know, if you play SLBP you'll see Yukimura sometimes introduce himself as "Sanada Genjirou Yukimura". "Genjirou" is the alias name, and in real life that's what you should call him by, not "Yukimura".

The problem is, not everyone gets to have that alias name. I actually have no idea why sometimes people do and sometimes they don't, but when they don't get an alias name, the childhood names becomes the "alias".

Mitsunari is an example of this. He still went by his childhood name "Sakichi" even after Honnouji, as accounted by multiple paperwork, even though he definitely already has his adult name then.

Other than childhood names and aliases, people also can be addressed by titles. Motonari as far as I know don't have an alias name, so he could be addressed as Shoujomaru and that should be 100% fine. He did seem have a title pretty early on, though, which is "Tanpi-dono", so people can also address him with this.

But again, like the issue with Kichou's name this is so much technobabble lingo, would be confusing to casual readers if Ikesen had followed the Real Life (TM) rules. Nobody cares except for people who just really like to read about real history.

-----

Bonus Trivia of aliases: Nobunaga's alias is "Saburou", Hideyoshi is "Toukichirou", Masamune is "Toujirou", Akechi is "Juubei", Shingen is "Tarou", Kenshin is "Heizo", Ieyasu is "Jirousaburou", Yoshimoto is "Hikogorou".

Kanetsugu also doesn't have one, so he goes by his childhood name "Yoroku".

Keiji is... just Keiji, because that is the "alias name". Some people are more famously known by their alias instead of their actual name. Sometimes written as Keijirou. He also supposedly went by "Soubei" (referenced in Ikesen's Second Prologue). His personal name is a bit unclear, but most texts usually refer to him by Toshimasu or Toshisada.

Ranmaru is "Ranhoushi", or sometimes just "Ran" for short. His personal name is Naritoshi.

Kennyo is... also just Kennyo. Monks go by their "ordained name". Kennyo's personal name is Kousa.

A Winter Night's Reunion

A short oneshot based on the prompt request from my Twitter ‘Eye contact across a crowded room’

Read below or on Ao3 here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/47311147

*   *   *

The air is thick with the scent of spirits far more potent than Zhongli is used to, and the businessman sat next to him taps his shoulder. Not waiting for Zhongli to acknowledge him, he launches into his third rant of the evening about the price of milk in the northern versus southern communities in Snezhnaya.

While Zhongli might ordinarily take interest in such a topic, his attention today lies elsewhere.

Several long rows of tables line the length of the Great Hall, set with the finest porcelain crockery which is stacked to the brim with Snezhnayan delicacies. Zhongli sits on the table closest to the stained glass windows casting an icy blue across the room, cloaking the room a melancholic undertone despite the celebratory nature of the occasion.

The table on the far side seats the remaining members of the Ninth Company, the recovery of which is the entire reason for their gathering, Zhongli invited as a guest of honour after assisting in the brokering of a diplomatic exchange with the Liyue Qixing. Each table is positioned to allow everyone a clear view to the top table, which is elevated on a platform, where The Tsaritsa and her Harbingers sit.

Whether the chosen positioning is to provide their guests with a clear view of their hosts, or to kindly remind them that their hosts are watching them is another matter entirely.

Sitting at this table is the subject of Zhongli’s attention. Childe digs into a hearty helping of meat, nodding absentmindedly at Pantalone chattering away as he to one of the dishes. Pantalone nudges him with his elbow and Childe offers a fake smile and a polite word of acknowledgement, but his eyes remain cold and distant.

Zhongli remembers when he saw Childe’s real smile. It was a beautiful thing, like the first sun rising after a Snezhnayan winter, but now it is doubtful that he shall see it again in his lifetime.

Is it just me or are the new tumblr users convinced there's a penalty of some kind for using this site like it's meant to be used?

reblogs have always been in short supply for artists, sadly, but it's hitting the shitposts and even the cat pictures lately. Gotta keep getting the word out that reblogs are good and keep people posting new material that will be passed around for the next 12 years

They’re used to other social media sites, where the only equivalent of reblogging is straight-up content theft; so the idea that you can put someone else’s stuff on your page and have it not be a bad thing is a strange experience for them.

They’re likely also used to an algorithm recommending content based on what they hit “like” on, so they probably think that that’s how this works, too.
