Here’s my animation for the opening credits of Castlevania without the bells and whistles of compositing.

Not only did I get to develop the style for this part, but it’s the only piece of animation in the show where my original drawings aired without any sort of clean up.

Out of everything I did for the first season of Castlevania, this was the part I had the most control over.

I finally got clearance to show my rough animation from Castlevania! I did a lot of animation for this show so I’m going to release these through several posts each week, starting with this one.

For the Alucard vs Trevor sequence there wasn’t enough time in the schedule for me to finish out the animation, so I completed a first pass and the drawings were sent over to Korea for the artists at MUA Film to to tie down.

Some fantastic work by my friend Spencer Wan.  The sheer amount of animation he produced for the show is staggering, not to mention the high quality of it all!

Another question if You use flash how do you get the brush to work for you because it's just a struggle using the pencil tool?

Avatar

I use the second to smallest brush size and keep my smoothing at 30.  This won’t make a clean line, but it’ll keep flash from ‘interpreting’ your line as much.

What do you use to animate?

Avatar

I’ve proficient in both Adobe Animate(Flash) and ToonBoom Harmony. My primary program is Adobe Animate, and is the one I have been using to animate my film My Dad the Giant.

After all this time Shot 35 is finally animated!

This marks the top of the hump for the films production, and ostensibly we are over it!  Not only do the combined shots 31-35 amount to a whopping 57 second long tracking shot, but Shot 35 in and of itself is 24 seconds long. Add to this the complex physics, acting, and all manner of FX, and you have yourself a small mountain of work to tackle.  But it is tackled!

Next up 36 and 37 will conclude the tracking shot and help transition us all into the next phase of the film, animating it’s climax.

Patrons of $5 or more are receiving some extra files this week. Subscribe to my Patreon for more juicy animation.
