I spent 5 hours on this. Why did I spend 5 hours on this? Edit: I forgot to mention,I saw this a day or two ago on Reddit. I only downloaded the image for reference and spent a while trying to find the original post but I haven’t any luck. It’s also on the Surprised Pikachu ‘Know your Meme’ page but there isn’t a user to go with it. If anyone knows who did the original pixel work, I’d love to give them proper credit!

Good morning and sorry for the silence!

Today is my birthday! I’ve been busy both with my standard job and taking some time to play a few games. I usually slow down propmaking near the end of the year, mainly due to lots of games and shows being released.  Outside of that, I’m working on potentially selling copies of my Skyrim daggers later on at the beginning of early next year! I’m working on a few things before preparing the molding and casting process.

Today’s a patterning kind of day. I’m currently waiting for a test for the Skyrim shield handle to either be a success or failure, so I’m knocking out my least favorite parts of crafting i.e. working out the size of everything. Luckily, Skyrim weapons have a lot of full front screenshots for me to print out and work with, and Miphas trident has been mapped out by a few different cosplayers already. The steel dagger is off of TES wiki, and the Lightscale Trident is off of Lara Wegenaers website.

Tomorrow these miiiight get cut out if I can pick up a blade and some more wood.

Ughhhhh I’ve had a bad, uh, time lately. I feel like I say that a lot. No better time than now to take it out creatively! A lot of projects I have on deck won’t have much room for taking liberties in the design, so this was a great freeform exercise.

I’m using the Volpin Props method here for my own shield. Birch wood cut into planks and carved, sandwiching insulation foam followed by liberal amounts of bondo. The fun part came with smacking the rim with various dremel bits to mimic hammered metal. I got to test out some Createx aluminum on the rim and used up my old stains from the young Link weapons.

I made a stencil for the hold symbol and sponged over it, later going over with a brush. Why Falkreath? Honestly. No special reason other than I like the design the most.

There’s no handle right now, so this project is not done yet. I have a couple of ideas that I’ll execute soon!

reminder that 30 isn’t old, it’s very normal to not accomplish everything in your 20s, and that it is never too late to learn that thing you’ve always wanted to learn. you’re always growing. that’s a good thing. 

Who the hell accomplishes everything in their 20s? Who made that a thing?
