Real talk though, the way they show the scene revealing that Angeal slayed his own mother is done so artlessly. Like, there's no build up to it, one moment you're standing in front of the doorway with this rock tune blasting and the next moment the cutscene begins with Zack staring at the body. The scene happens during the day and the lighting is super bright and evenly lit with no atmosphere what-so-ever. The music is an extremely generic, vaguely jazzy piano tune that doesn't convey a dark or somber mood at all, and it just cuts off after a short while leaving the rest of the scene with no music until the battle starts. And that's all before Genesis trips Zack like a grade school bully and starts pretentiously reciting shitty poetry, clearly just so he can hear himself speak because he doesn't even stutter as Zack screams at him to shut the fuck up. Truly some of the most incompetent directing I've ever seen. Tommy Wiseau would be proud.
