The thing about Timmy Chalamet is that he’s truly a great actor and he even has good taste in projects and he’s not even overexposed when you calibrate for how overexposed all that group of 25-30 year old big stars are……however something is still off. any time he gets cast in something it feels like that movie instantly turns into a parody of a movie. I cannot explain this

when dealing with mosquitos do you:

  1. leave them alone and let them hang out around in ur room (normal)
  2. trap them with a cup and a sheet of paper and put them outside (mostly normal)
  3. slap them in the air or on your skin (sure)
  4. hit them while theyre on the wall or a piece of furniture so it leaves a stain (absolutely fucking deranged)

ABSOLUTELY love these tags I respect this person so much

You can tell OP has never lived in an area infested in mosquitoes, those assholes suck to the highest degree

Plot twist, OP is an alien researcher attempting to gather information and wildly misinterpreting humanity’s reactions

OP this you?

i had to live the majority of my life in the louisiana heat, terrified of malaria and the west nile virus since i was a child, and breathe in the mosquito killer gas that trucks regularly spray down the street in the summertime just to read someone on tumblr say that its normal to let a mosquito live

I promise mosquitoes are not in short supply. Smash those fuckers flat

Since op is gone I can say without harassing a stranger: I think about this constantly. You’re very normally gonna get West Nile.

The fact that Microsoft Word has to be a subscription is upsetting. I already paid for it why do I have to pay again

Yes please be mad about it, genuinely- You used to be able to purchase a single disk to install it and use it forever after that initial purchase of one key. It sickens me to see all this stuff which used to be a one time purchase be shunted under a subscription now.

"Why is pirating going back up?!"

This. This is why. People don't mind paying a high price for software if it's only the once, or every 4-5 years.

But having to pay a high price regularly? Especially in the cases where you lose access to your own work if you don't?

That's why people are pirating software.

It’s possible to buy a non-subscription version of Word; Microsoft just intentionally makes it very difficult to find (and also expensive).

However, I know a guy who knows a guy website: MS Office Pro for $50. If the link starts going to a Page Not Found, just search the site; they usually have some form of this sale available.

Worth noting: while $50 is still more money than $yo-ho-ho, that money is a great way to make VERY clear to Microsoft that we DO want one-time-purchase products, not subscriptions.

My laptop just died. If it can't be fixed and I need to replace it, this post is gonna be a real life saver, because my family has been sharing an old version of Word that came with a limited number of lifetime licenses, and we're fresh out.

Get LibreOffice. It's fully compatible with MS Office, but it's free and open source. You're welcome. :-)

Tumblr Most Annoying Fandom tournament 2024

Here is our final line up!

Round 1 will begin with the left half of the bracket, these polls will be up in 24 hours.

The bracket has been seeded based on the number of submissions. Polls will be open for a week this time, so there will be plenty of time to spread them around, start arguments, and create propaganda!

Feel free to send asks with any queries about how this will work.

Let’s work on communicating our insecurities and feelings instead of accusing our loved ones. Making accusations can damage our relationships and isn’t fair to our loved ones.

Try saying “I’m scared I’m going to be alone” instead of “you’re going to leave me like everyone else”.

Try saying “I’m sorry I hurt your feelings. I feel bad about it. Is there anything I can do to help make this better?” instead of “I’m such a failure and a bad person. You shouldn’t be friends with me anymore.”

Try saying “I’m feeling really alone lately. Can we talk more?” instead of “you never talk to me. You must not care about me.”

Our loved ones can’t read our minds. No matter how obvious it might seem to us that we’re struggling, it isn’t necessarily obvious to them. And there are any number of reasons that they might not notice, or might notice and not react (such as trying to respect that they think you don’t want to talk about it and will come to them when you’re ready.)

Your feelings are valid. Your insecurities are valid. But it’s better to deal with these by seeking reassurance in healthy ways or coping mechanisms like self-soothing instead of accusing those you love of bad intentions.

I got an ask about this and here’s a post I wrote about seeking reassurance in a healthy way.

And sometimes we can’t let go of the bad feelings in the second statements. And that’s okay. It’s okay to talk about them with the person to resolve them. But please do it in a healthy way like the examples in my longer seeking reassurance post and not in an accusing way.

yo i recently finished watching the new fallout show last night and I really enjoyed it, curious to hear any thoughts you have on it, fav character, etc!

generally i've been against live action adaptions of video games so far, esp when the approach taken doesn't really doing/saying anything new and just milks it. or has a kind of nose upturned vibe of "this is art now because it's live action. unlike the shooty video games" (cough cough the last of us hbo)

i really didn't want to like fallout on prime. especially since it's amazon lol. but BUT. it was genuinely fun and enjoyable and felt sooo fallout? definitely had some pacing issues in the last couple eps but other than that i thought it was so solid. it was fun and goofy and violent and gory, i really didn't want to like it lol but i really did!!

ghoul coulda looked nastier though

Thinking about how each protagonist in the Fallout TV show believes themselves to be the last true American because each of them is a different kind of American myth. Is being an American all about getting to be the lone gunslinger who exists in a world without rules or limitations? Is it about being controlled by a corporation in a hyper-consumptive society that only gives you the illusion of free choice? Is it about being in control of such overwhelmingly dominant military technology that you believe your power grants you the responsibility of being the world's moral authority? Let's do some drugs about it.
