What It Takes To Blossom

Word Count: 1,713 words Summary: Their strategies aren’t working. So what if they changed the game? What if they made it unpredictable? Desperate to throw Hawkmoth off balance, Ladybug and Chat Noir once again swap Miraculouses… only this time, it’s intentional. And permanent. The only problem? Hawkmoth isn’t the only one thrown off balance, now. This team might just have to start from square one to get it right. Notes: This was written for the @newbeginningszine, and the beautiful collaborative artist I worked with was @bloodyyanya!

“Mister Bug, on your left!”

Lady Noire barely had enough time to extend her baton and knock her partner unmercifully to the far end of the rooftop, where he nearly went skidding over the edge.

She winced as she heard the way his breath was audibly knocked from his lungs when he crashed sideways, but she pivoted away and back toward the villain as soon as he began to scramble to his feet.

There was no time to waste. Their plan would work.

Well, she hoped it would, at least. This was the first time they were putting it to use.

Today’s villain was already proving to be the unpredictable sort that would likely keep them moving, barely allowing them a moment to plan or adapt. But maybe that was to the duo’s advantage.

Unpredictability, after all, was the whole point.

if yall ever want like serious advice from me about how to solve burnout as a creative it's like...

literally ignore it. stop pushing. go do something else, enjoy your life, fill it with other things, do what brings you joy in the moment if you can.

go to the gym, take a walk to touch grass and look at dogs and smell flowers, cook dinner, watch tv with your friends, talk about your feelings as needed with ppl you trust, take a drive and blast your music, do the chores you need to do, the job hunting slog you need to do, read books that aren't for research, stop cordoning off your brain for The Craft or The Draft or whatever the fuck

forget about the project, stop thinking about it for as long as it takes to be excited again.

fuckin rest, basically

reiterating this--

stop pushing. stop blaming yourself for not working on creative stuff enough, stop tormenting yourself. remove all pressure and expectation. it'll be done whenever, you'll work on it whenever. who the fuck knows when that is, but it'll happen when it's ready.

stop doing shit that feels bad. do stuff that makes you happy and relaxed.

at a certain level of spoon usage from job, chores, errands, socialization and basic maintenance there will just Not Be Anything Left for your projects for awhile.

you have to let it build back up and then take your time getting back into it organically as it comes.

hope this helps someone else, bc I have learned it the hard-headed stubborn-ass fish-thrashing-in-a-net way and it's been agonizing.

the problem with being creative is that you start to feel very guilty when you haven’t created anything in a while

do you get upset when a field isn't ready for harvest at all times? your seeds are doing mysterious things in the dirt. but you have to leave them hidden in the dirt or they won't grow

I actually don’t mind that “dead dove” has become conversational shorthand for “fics with heavy themes where you REALLY need to pay attention to the warnings”. such is the nature of language. what i do mind is when people tag their actual fics with dead dove and then give no indication of what they’re actually warning about. that is useless. that helps no one. that is completely against the spirit of the meme. i will not be reading that

When the tags say "bdsm" and "dead dove" it means that the bdsm is, like, super duper bdsm.

When the tags say "dead dove" with no other clarifying tags, it's like walking down a hallway and having someone shout "BE ALARMED" and then vanishing into thin air with no further details given. Be alarmed about what.

Do you think

Every time Chat Noir dies

And Ladybug brings him back

Gabriel gets a little angrier

Because

She’ll bring him back

She gets to save her love

And that’s not breaking the rules

But he

He

Saving Emilie is “too far”

Why does Ladybug get for free what he has to kill for

I don’t think finding out that Chat is Adrien would make his reaction any better. The thing that killed Emilie gets a free pass to life?
