A breath of fresh air - Sprousehart Oneshot
It was the type of morning where everything goes wrong. Lili could feel something in the pit of her stomach the second she woke up. Not only that but the construction behind her building wouldn’t let her sleep in on her day off, she had got a parking ticket after two minutes of leaving her apartment, and she dropped her coffee as soon as she opened her front door. She was sure that by this point nothing could go right.
Lili threw away the styrofoam cup and mopped her French Vanilla coffee along with her happiness.
As soon as she sat down and took a breath, her phone lit up.
Mom: Missing you today! See you in two weeks.
That was it. That’s what it took for the tears to start falling. She was homesick. It had been over 5 months since she had last seen any of her family. Of course she had her cast, which at this point was family but nothing compares to her Mom’s constant encouragement or even her little sister’s sarcasm.
She knew it was her day off but right now all she needed was to be around people. She needed to be around him.
45 minutes is nothing, she thought. Nothing compared to the last hour of her day.
So she changed, got herself together, and began her drive to set.
“Lil! You’re filming today?” Casey smiled as Lili entered the Make-up trailer.
“Nope I’m off. Just having a boring morning so I thought I’d stop by.” Her morning was anything but boring but she didn’t feel like burdening the whole makeup team and Casey with her unfortunate morning.
“Ohhhh. You’re looking for the boy. Huh?” Lili giggled as her makeup artist teased her about Cole. It wasn’t anything new. Cole and Lili had been together for a little over 4 months now and it was pretty serious but everyone on set still loved teasing them every so often.
“Well I guess I should go find him and let him know I’m here. Is he filming?”
“Not yet. I’m assuming he’s in his trailer.” Casey mumbled quickly as his makeup artist blended out his foundation. Lili promised to come find him later when he was done filming and then was off to find Cole.
Once she approached his trailer, the door was locked and she heard faint music coming from inside so she knocked loudly.
“One second.” She heard him shout and shuffle around before the door opened revealing Cole halfway in Jughead wardrobe paired with his plaid flannel Pj pants. The second she made eye contact with him it was like a breath of fresh air. He was her breath of fresh air.
“Lili?” He furrowed his eyebrows and stepped back so she could come in.
“Did they call you in baby? I was just gonna call and see if you were awake.” Lili let out a huge sigh and fell back into his couch right next to him. Before she could even speak she felt tears stinging her eyes.
“Hey. Hey. Whats wrong?” Cole turned towards her and pulled her legs over and up into his lap.
“Everything. This morning.” She sighed again and pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Are you ok? What happened?” He scooted in closer and wrapped his arms around her small torso.
“Just a really fucking awful morning. Everything that could have went wrong today did and I’m just missing home a lot recently. I just feel so overwhelmed and I wanted to see you.” She rambled on and Cole was now rubbing small circles onto her back, listening intently.
“Lil, I’m sorry baby. What can I do?” Cole was ready to help in anyway he could and just that alone calmed her down.
“It’s fine. I’m fine. I just didn’t want to be alone I guess. Mom and Tess will be here in two weeks so I will be ok I just wanted to see you.” Cole brushed her messy hair out of her face and kissed her temple.
“So you know how I’m going to New York this weekend to see my Dad?” He looked down at her with concern still holding her tightly against him.
“Yeah I know, I’ll probably just stay with Mads while you’re away. Don’t worry I’ll be fine. Just a bad morning.” He could feel her body relax into him as he sat his chin on top of her head.
“Come with me.” She shifted at his statement. Cole’s Dad was having a small family get together with some extra extended family. Going with him to New York would mean meeting a lot his family.
“Babe. I know it’s like a family th-..” Cole laughed under his breath and pulled back to meet Lili’s eyes.
“Yes. There will be a lot of family there and I want them to meet you. I want you to meet Dad and Chrissy. I think they’ve had enough of all the FaceTiming.” Lili knew that their relationship was getting serious and meeting the family, extended family for that matter, was pretty damn serious. Her nerves were almost overflowing at the thought but so was her happiness. He wanted her to meet his family.
“Of course I’ll go with you.” She smiled sweetly and placed a small kiss on his lips that he quickly deepened.
When they both parted for air, Cole pressed his forehead against hers and smiled.
“Good because, I’ve had your plane ticket for like a month now.” Lili shook her head playfully and kissed him once more.
