I watched the 1991 Japanese sci-fi movie Zeiram on a stream on Friday night and fell head over heels for that excellent cyberpunk/monster/pastel electrician’s uniform aesthetic. This movie’s a ton of fun and the dub is a masterpiece*, please watch it.

*for a certain definition of “masterpiece”

Some random Bad Batch season finale thoughts:

  • Real glad that most of the people I couldn't stand died.
  • While I don't love that Nala Se had to die I'm really fucking glad she got to kill Rampart. Like fuck yeah, good for you.
  • I know we're all talking about how it turned out CX-2 wasn't Tech and all that, but like there's the much more disturbing option that he was Tech and he just got fucking stabbed to death by Hunter without him even knowing it.
  • In general I'm not super satisfied with how the Clone Assassin stuff ended, like earlier episodes spend so much time on CX-2 in particular and he seemed so visceral and driven, his fight with Crosshair in particular. I just thought they'd like, do anything with that instead of just killing him off. Like, it didn't have to be Tech, but I really would have liked learning anything about this guy at all. The contrast between how much time is devoted to him in the mid-season to how few time he got in the finale is honestly staggering to me, it felt like a setup without the payoff.
  • I think I just would have liked to see some more fucked up stuff? Maybe I'm going just going in with entirely wrong expactations for a Star Wars show, but like I wanna see some fucked up forced clone experiments or something. And I really wish Crosshair could have gone into some detail regarding what he actually went through. Also along those lines I'd have liked for someone to say in more explicit terms what Project Necromancer was all about.

  • I'm so so so so so happy all the Batchers survived and I'm so glad they all get to have their happy end on Pabu. I'd totally watch a season 4 that's just like a clone sitcom on Pabu.
  • Please someone write Omega meeting Kix in the sequel era fanfiction I need that pls
  • I'm really glad they got all the kids out there alive. Like I know it was extremely unlikely in a Star Wars show for a bunch of kids to be killed off (unless they're Uli-ah...) but still, I'm glad they got out alive after all that horrible depersonalizing they went through the last few episodes.
