"All of those under the age of majority, meaning younger than eighteen-"

"We know what the fucking age of majority is, you absolute bellend," Ivy snapped. "Get to the godsdamn point."

"I will," Beast returned, voice icy. "All of those under the age of eighteen cannot be here without permission from their legal guardians. All of you under the age of eighteen will need to be taken into custody until your parents can be contacted and they say you can stay in Auradon."

Oh.

Oh fuck.

Hadie stepped forward before Jay could work himself up. "So, if we're under eighteen, we have to be sent back?" Beast nodded and a wicked grin split across Hadie's face. "Makes sense. Nice to know that I'm eighteen and the rule doesn't apply to me."

The idea spread through the room as quickly as the panic had. Andi stepped up, too, interrupting Beast as he tried to point out Hadie's lie. "I'm eighteen, too."

"So am I," Rose said. "And since Ace and I are twins, that makes it eighteen, too."

"Yeah, I'm eighteen, too," Malcolm piped up.

"I'm eighteen!" Little Pasha said, earning grins from most of the room.

Ivy ruffled her hair. "Good girl, Pash!"

Beast slammed his hands down on his table, startling them into silence. "Do you think we're stupid?" He spat. "Only two of you are over the age of eighteen!"

"Prove it," Winter snapped, shooting to her feet. "There's no official documentation kept on the Isle, including birth certificates. As far as you know, they're all eighteen. You have to take them at their word for it because you just couldn't be bothered to document the fact that they exist. I mean, do any of you have an official birth certificate?" When she was met with only a chorus of denial, she grinned to Beast. "See, they don't have birth certificates. You have no proof that they aren't eighteen."

"It's not hard to conduct tests-"

"On the contrary, your Majesty," Charles Xavier interrupted. "Bone density scans and dental examinations were all inconclusive due to the issues they've grown up with. No test will be able to accurately determine the age of someone who's suffered from chronic malnutrition for their entire lives. There is no way to verify their ages through those methods. I have tried but, because of the obviously inaccurate results, also had to take them at their word for their ages."

"So, my fellow people who are old enough to vote," Ivy said, "It looks like we're all good to stay in Auradon. Because he can't verify our ages."

It's probably normal for the isle kids to just feel dizzy and lightheaded out of nowhere because they all have vitamin deficiencies.

Jasmine's Next supply Drop

She can't fix everything Maverick is worried about, but she can at least try to ease her burden

  • A couple hundred gallons of bleach (can be used to purify water)
  • 20 solar-powered desalination machines, as well as a couple dozen copies on how to make their own out of the meagre "supplies" (trash) they get on the Isle
  • 5 crates of high-calorie emergency rations (3600 calories per bar, each bar the size of a pop-tart but twice as thick)
  • 10 crates of assorted nuts, seeds, jerkeys, rice, and other easily-stored nonperishable.
  • 10,000 pounds of flour (100 100-lb bags)
  • 3 crates milk power
  • 3 crates powdered eggs
  • 5 crates baby formula
  • 5 crates peanut butter
  • 50 cameras with solar-powered chargers
  • Supplies and instructions to build ~20 medium hydropower generators, promises to send more if the generators work
  • 200 fuel cubes for starting fires and 100 books of matches
  • Several very thick books (all copies of the same book) written by Aladdin, giving them advice for doing their distribution covertly and escaping when things go south.
  • Several books from Kuzco about creating irrigation canals and long-standing roads
  • Several books on creating and maintaining a hydroponics system, as well as 25 bags of uncursed soil and several dozen packets of seeds
  • A book of sigils, circles, and runes from Adam Constantine, and how to use each one to protect possible distribution centres from unwanted company
  • While there's not much that can be done about the guards, they gave Maverick a small book of tricks to keep fae like Maleficent or Twisted Neverfay contained in a certain area
  • 4 large church bells blessed by a Catholic priest (he was absolutely delighted to be part of inconveniencing Maleficent, as he's been a victim of that hundred-year sleep,) as well as 8 small-ish ones
  • A couple dozen books on creating infrastructure (sewers, plumbing, electric grid, bridges, roads, telecommunication, water supply, etc.) They're hard to build now but it's better they already know what they're doing before they actually have to, as Maverick and the others pretty stubbornly insist on staying on the Isle after everything and seeing if they can make it work without be constantly sabotaged
  • Some tips on how to figure out what was wrong with their water supplies (rivers, lakes, etc,) so that Jasmine could start working with them to clean up the pollution in their water.
  • Veterinary rabies vaccines, five samples for every animal that can be vaccinated for rabies

Maverick is still preparing for a worst case scenario ("I expect the worst, so I prepare for the worst, so when the worst happens, I'm ready" and all that,) but she thinks, at the very least, these supplies and books can help them put it off or at least slow how rapidly it progresses. Jasmine is also considering sending livestock but, considering how nervous Maverick got about the idea (one of the cows had tried to attack Mordred and she is traumatized,) decided to put it off for a while to give the Isle time to recover from the idea of rabid cows.

And she's doubling, tripling, her efforts to get at least civilians off of the Isle. She can't take too many at once, knowing she would run the risk of collapsing the new systems she'd put in place, but she's trying. They're getting the children off first, because they're the ones who will be hit hardest by malnutrition and starvation, but the adults will follow as quickly as possible. Hopefully, by the time Beast realizes people are disappearing from the Isle at an alarming rate, they'll have at least gotten a half of the Isle's population evacuated. That'll make the lack of supplies easier on those who remain.

They're putting major plans in place to prevent or at least improve the future Maverick saw. And Jasmine is already drawing up plans for how she's going to make this all legal.

One major flaw of the barge system is that it is legitimately causing people to die after Christmas, because for at least two drops the barge is mostly filled with wrapping paper. There's some other stuff, sure, but 90% of the barge is just wrapping paper. Which is kind of okay for burning, but it burns too fast and also, they can't eat it (well, they could, but it's only 19 calories per gram so it doesn't do much.) Most of the winter deaths are solely due to the wrapping paper

Another flaw of the barge system is I'd imagine that Auradon is big on low-waste living to keep their country picturesque, meaning a lot of people probably compost, significantly cutting down the amount of food waste produced. Also, if Auradon is just sending over its trash, a lot of that is probably going to be plastics and I doubt the Isle has the resources to melt it and mould something else, turn it into chemicals, or even just recycle it

The Isle had its own slang and little phrases. This never fails to throw Auradon through a loop.

Riah, pissed off about something; I swear to Black Jesus, you are on my last mother fucking nerve! Chad; ... You swear to what now?

Mal; Well fuck me gently with a chainsaw. Jane; Please do not engage in unsafe activities with chainsaws.

Carlos; Sleep is for the evolutionary inferior. Audrey; I beg your pardon?

Evie; Shall I compare thee to a horse's ass? Ally; ... What?

Claudine; I wish upon you what King Lyon wishes upon the Isle. Carina; Oh, thank you Claudine; ... Sure, we'll go with that.

Jay; Live fast, die young, leave a hot-ass corpse, that's what I always say. Doug; You should say something else.

It's hilarious because it confuses both parties so much.

Riah; No offense, but the waiter could kill me and I would still tip 50% Mal; I'd tip way more than that, that's good customer service.

Ugh, was having a great time mocking my recently imprisoned rival when I noticed the camera positioning makes it so that I appear behind the bars, thus framing me as trapped in a metaphorical prison of the narrative, now my whole day is ruined. Fuck.

I get it, man. The other day, I survived a shootout, only to realize that a stray bullet went through a mirror in such a way as to look from the camera's perspective like I got shot in the head through the mirror, so now I have to acknowledge that something that could be reasonably referred to as "me" really did die that day, and it's just like "jfc, gimme a BREAK"

ugh dont even get me started on how the other day i tried to sit on the throne of my conquered foe and light a cigar to celebrate my victory but the lighter wouldnt work and it had to be lighted by the vizier who used to work for my enemy but that i enlisted to work as a double agent and help me in my coup. that jerk afterwards said with a devilish smile "ill always be at your service my liege" and i just KNOW that he said that exact same thing to the previous ruler. signifying that my victory was phyrric since i am still caught in an endless cycle of violence and betrayal. that really spoiled the whole mood

Okay so I'm in love with your alternative universe and I'm scrolling through your blog to understand it more.

Okay so I just learned about Jenna and I am a bit confused. What war did Mal have yet to survive to solidify her trust in Harriet, etc? Like what was the war about or what was the reason for the war?

Okay, Maleficent had a kill order on her I guess because she took Jenna and left?

Now Maverick had seen what was about to happen but how does Harriet play into this? Was she with Maverick also how old are Harriet and Maverick atp?

I can also imagine how shocking it must have been to know Maleficent had a kill order on Mal, she's in hiding, and when someone finally sees her after days she's about to kill herself.

Also, I doubt Maleficent welcomed her daughter back home with open arms

Okay, so, The War refers to what happened when Mal was nine, when Maleficent partnered with a few other Villains and some now-defunct gangs. At first, it was just trying to kill Ginny over a very long story, but then the allied gangs, with help from Shan Yu, Facilier, Cassim, the Exiled Gods, Grandma Gert, and two of the Endless, managed to fight until Maleficent agreed to a ceasefire. Then, six months later, she attacked Diego’s territory- she'd been waiting until they were least expecting it. That one got a few more major players involved- Maverick, several gods, three more of the Endless, and Grandfather Time. That one led to a large decimation, heavy losses on both sides, but a surprise change of heart, the defection of Ace Hearts, second of the Underland Gang (Underland Gang is bad.) It and its sister, Rose, turned the tide of the war because they knew top-secret information. Plus Ace brutally murdered the Underland's leader.

Maleficent actually had a capture order, but yeah. No one else could have or would have snuck into the castle for an infant they didn't know was there. Besides, the guards said Mal had given them a fake order, probably to get them away from the door.

At that point, Maverick was sixteen and Harriet was twelve. The two had known each other for nearly a decade- sixteen was when Maverick started pulling away. Maverick, knowing Harriet was part mermaid and that the cliffs Mal was going to were close to Harriet’s territory, sent a telepathic message to Harriet that Mal was going to the cliffs. All context could wait. Harriet didn't know there was a baby involved until she saw the bundle in Mal's arms (and gods, she did some math very quickly to try and figure out what the fuck THAT was about,) and didn't know the rest until Mal was stabilized. Maverick lied to Maleficent, saying that she had forced Mal to do everything. She'd been doing a lot of work against Maleficent and Maleficent knew she was an extremely powerful charmspeak user, so Maleficent believed her. Maverick even sacrificed the secret above-ground Mile location, constructing a lie that she'd kidnapped Mal but Mal had managed to outwit her, escape, and bring her mother this huge information to further get her out of trouble. Mal was a local legend for a while- she'd done what was presented to the public as a deep-cover mission so well she'd impressed her mother and managed to outwit Maverick Mim. But it had all been Maleficent's idea, of course
